I believe you have to install the Java plugin http://java.sun.com/getjava/download.html now

At a guess, i'd say it's because of MS's attempts to meet the requirements of a possible anti-trust settlement. Tecnically, Sun's implementation of Java runtimes should be superior to Microsofts, so i don't see the problem.

This is due to the result from the anti-trust case and no it imho doesn't run better as its bloatware with too much non required crap in it.

I find the Sun java plugin MUCH slower. You can prolly install the MS one from Add/Remove Programs > Internet Explorer

Java is dieing anyhow

for me on win2k, the microsoft java thingy is still in the windows update page.

you can have it if you want, im not touching the thing
