Timed my dinner badly so I ended up eating in front of Top Of The Pops. However, they had REM on doing Bad Day.

I was blown away by his stage presence. Completely inprovised, so intense and fixating.

And this was coming through a tiddly little student tele... damn I want to see them live.

Afaik he's not got Aids, it was just a rumour, he is gay though i think, so it prolly started from there.

But he is completely wonderful fantastic vocalist.

He's never come out as gay and he's never been confirmed as HIV positive, it's just that he looks a bit ill and is a tad quirky in his behaviour.

The only time he was caught in bed with a man was when he was with Evan Dando and Courtney Love just after her husband got bored with life.
