So anyone picked this up? I assume alot of you will already have aquired it through various sources. I only got it yesterday as game were running a promotion in store and it was going for 29 quid.

Only just started it but it is gorgeous. One of the best looking ps2 titles to date. They really have used the ps2s hardware like it was supposed to be. Not sure about the game play yet as it's very heavily stealth oriented now. Where as before there was always the option of bolting like a bastard to the door and taking a few hits on the way.

It also seems reasonably hard (using the hard setting). Camoflage is a nice touch.

What's everyone elses opinion so far?

My opinion is:

I'm going to save some pennies for Gran Turismo 4, especially considering MGS 2 was a contrived sack of overrated shit.

(I'll still pick it up one day, perhaps on Platinum or something. :))

The MGS games have never been nothing short of stunning people say theres too many cutscenes but i think they make the game even better.. the stories on all 3 PS games so far have been amazing and they keep you guessing.

I love MGS they are probably the only reason i own a PS2 is because i wanted this game.

Did the thing in a day on medium to boot.

Fighting "The End" was the best bit, about 1 hour the battle went on for sneaking around trying to find the bastard before he finds you.

My problem was the view, its to much of a pain to look south and with no radar it was even more frustrating.

There was also a few parts with very low fps, but apart from that i did enjoy it, huge improvement from the load of farmer finest that was MG2.

Roll on March 18 for Resident Evil 4!

MGS on the PlayStation holds the best OST for a game imo.

Stunning game. I too was disappointed with MGS2, lovely to look at but missed the deep film like story that you got with MGS. I havent planned on buying this yet but then I havent looked at any PS2 titles since GTA:VC and GTA:SA. GT4 might be one but it really depends on price. I have a habit of playing these games for a few hours then moving back to the PC and not touching them again.

About 14 hours, i played it all day and night, till about 4 in the morning hehe.

Its well worth playing for the story, the ending really left me with a Woah!! feeling.

Using QCQ is great fun, nothing better than running up to one of the bastards, he turns around you QCQ him and slit his throat.

Going to run the game again trying to not kill anyone, only using the tranquilizer gun on bosses.

I heard this game has about 25 hours of good gameplay if you dont run through it like a spack.

I am 5 hours into it now and it's very very good. The whole "its just a movie" thing is complete bollocks. While the cut scenes are longer than average they do not detract from the gameplay whatsoever.

I hated MGS 2 with a passion but this has firmly restored my faith in the francise.

Well, it was a great movie.

Nah, movies you can rewind if you dont get the plot. I completed MGS2 but my understanding of the plot went out the window when you went into the bowles of the oil rig.
