Merlin or Heron?

I currently have about 300k isk and was thinking about purchasing a Heron, but the Merlin is supposedly much better so now I'm not sure whether to keep my Bantam and save up for a Merlin or buy a Heron now and think about the Merlin later.

Any suggestions?
