Merging of alliances

As you can read on my other post about a cross alliance meeting, we have dicided to try and merge some of the alliances on Dyvet. So far it looks like we will try and see if it will be possible to merge FoM alliance and New Era alliance, but if more is interesed in joining this new union all guilds is welcome to apply and join the process of creating a new strong union in Midgard.

So far we havent dicided on the name of this alliance and on specific rules, so all interested guilds still have time to get in on the decision making process.

All active former FoM alliance guilds will join this new alliances and hopefully as many active guilds from New Era alliance aswell. We havent heard from all guilds in New Era and also not from the alliance leader, but some GMs has been talking together, so it will be a little more time before this new alliance is up and running.


Who will this new alliance be made of? And how many spaces are left?
As I said before its not complely set, but here are a few facts from before Roll of Honour became broken:
Former FoM alliance (13 guilds, but we have more or less been able to slim down to around 7 active guilds).
New Era alliance (17 guilds, but by the looks of it around 9 active guilds)
If all active New Era guilds decides to join this new union, we will reach a max of 16 active guilds give or take a few guilds. That leaves us 5+ free spots for other guilds to join. In other words the new alliance will have free spots for interested guilds and all are welcome to contact us online or by posting on this forum.

Rules? Goals?
No rules have been set yet. But we will aim to get as much PvE and RvR going as possible and the alliance chat will ofcouse be an important tool for both PvE and RvR. Most guilds are active in both PvE and RvR, but its not requested that your guild is active in both aspects of the game. We do aim to get only active guild into this alliance, that means your guild must be active on the Dyvet server. We also aim to get RvR bgs up and running most nights in the alliance, so we can get action going in RvR and we are be able to find groups. It has also been discussed to get trade/crafting cgs up and running so people can trade and find crafters within the alliance and discuss related issues. All things we will discuss in the alliance.

Who will lead this alliance?
All the GMs of all the guilds will lead it. How we sort it specifictly will be dicided and discussed by the GMs in the alliance. Council or not, specific event leaders or not, but so far I (Yulia, TDA) will try and get things moving, along with Vonwar from (Danish Huscarls), but this will not mean we will be leading this alliance.

If you want further infomation on the alliance or are interested in joining with your guild, all is welcome to contact either:

We will try and fill the alliance if possible and we are hoping to have many new guilds joining us in great RvR battles against the evil Albs and Hibs and the horrific hordes of monsters hiding in our homeland of Midgard.

Please specify those alliances that are considered to be active (as this might be considered relative). I'd be concerned that some small guilds who really need an alliance to survive, but are still quite active for their numbers, may get excluded.

I apologise for not raising this at the meeting last night. I was in the BG representing Venom (as an officer and ex-GM) but as I was in RvR playing a healer, I found it impossible to contribute properly at the time. I have however logged the chat and hope to go over what was said in more detail later.

What alliances are considered active?
Due to a broken Roll of Honour I cant be completly sure but I see 2 active alliances on both ex-servers: FoM alliance, RSA, New Era and Norrsken. Then there is BC alliance with 10 members and the new small alliance Senza Nome (3 guilds). These are the alliances I consider active atm.

Concerns about small guilds and their role.
I agree we need to make sure that all active guilds gets an alliance if they need it. But its also a good opportunity for all guilds and alliance to take a look at themselves and figure out if guilds with 1, 2 or 3 persons are a good idea (ofc are claim guilds always good for the realm). If we make use of all free spots in RSA and the new alliance, I have a feeling we can fit in allmost all active guilds. I can mainly speak for my own alliance when talking about inactive/semi-inactive guilds. Around 5 guilds in FoM alliance had 1-4 members taking up 5 extra spots in the alliance, some didnt even have an active GM anymore. We has been able to fit most of those people into the remaining active guilds so we now have more free spots for more active guilds. Before the crash of Roll of Honour was it the exact the same picture in all of the other alliances around 4-5 guilds with 1-4 members. That was the situation 2 months ago and I seriously doubt more people have joined since then, in fact I fear we have even more guilds almost inactive.
But when that has been said I completely agree if a guild is active and wants an alliance, we need to find the spots for them. I even think its was one of the main reasons RSA was against a merge, because they still have many small active guilds, that cannot be merged into bigger guilds.

Nerf, my bad. I said "active alliances" but meant "active guilds". Just goes to show my proof-reading skills ain't what they should be... (perhaps that's why you're supposed to get someone else to proof-read for you ).

Obviously, I'm speaking from the point of view of my own guild, which only has a few actives atm, but nevertheless hope for better times with people returning at some point (if GOA ever get their finger out). We still manage to claim towers regularly to level 10 (due mainly to Bradlex's efforts, but I like to take some credit too these days ). I remember only too well what happened to the Fedaykin alliance and how hard it is to keep going when you aren't part of a healthy alliance.

Yulia - jsut for reference there isn't an alliance leader in New Era - we have always had a total democracy policy regarding rules and invites etc. When we used to have alliance meetings any guilds wishing to join were voted on by all member guilds and policies approved in the same democratic way.

I am still active on Mid/Pryd/Excal cluster with my rvr group on sunday and monday evenings although most of us spend the majority of our time on Hib Avalon/Lyoness cluster we still consider Midgard our "home" so still plan to play here on those 2 evenings.

If any administration tasks need sorting our from the New Era guild which ofc owns the alliance then feel free to pm/mesg me as I (along with Caeli and Grivne) have a GM char in the New Era guild In my pm to Vonwar I have told him i will invite one of his chars too and give it GM status in the guild so he will also be able to do any admin tasks necessary (inviting or kicking guilds etc). Finally the number of GM chars in the New Era guild was always kept to a minimum due to security reasons and there was no reason for all member guilds to have a GM char in the New Era Guild. A general rule of thumb was we only gave New Era GM status membership to very trusted and long standing member guild gm's.

Thanks for the info Blue very good to know. I didnt want to step on anybody toes if there was an alliance leader in New Era. Will keep you informed on the progress and nice to know you are still active on this server. Will try and catch you next weekend, since Im away this weekend.
