Worth joining?

have taken a few tests always score highly, on their site it says if you got above 120 on test the nation then you ahve a high probability etc I got 132 so fairly sure I could get in.

But what are the beneifits? Does it look good on a C.V. or just arrogant? Anybody here in Mensa?

I considered it when I was 16 or so, but decided that actually doing the tests sounded too much like work so I did a shitload of drugs instead.

It makes you a giant pretentious bellend.
Ye that's what I thought, but if it helps career wise and it's no real effort on my part then surely it's worth it?

I doubt it makes any difference on your CV. Could be a mild talking point in the interview I suppose.

Is it based on an IQ test?
I think IQ tests are not that accurate cause you can learn to do them.
Taken 3 so far and did better every time. Doesn't make me "gifted"
Also did an EQ test once. I just picked the answers I thought would be the most "socially" correct and scored very very high.

Don't think Mensa membership will help you career wise. Most likely they will turn you down because they think you will get bored with the job.
It's more like a club to meet like minded people with the same interests...

Pffft fuck that, I'm intelligent not boring. It's 1 in 50 people anyway, how hard can it be to meet someone else? Only the socially inept would need a club for that. :( Disapointed face!!

Is disapointed the special mensa approved version of the word that expresses slightly less disappointment than the double p version us regular plebs get to use?

No, just always been bad at it. Got better this year having written lots of essays for college etc but still my weakest area. Constantly have to check the spelling of words and if it's a written exam I have to use different words to express my point as I can't spell the word that fits it best and you lose more marks for spelling than you gain for having and extensive vocab.....

I say laziness ;)
hahaha fuck you, that's lack of proof reading...... It's even worse when I write because I type much faster than I write, when I write my hand can't keep up with my head and I miss out whole words...bad times

Proof read..you mean spellcheck.
I have the same problem, my hands can't keep up with my head and it look like dyslexic on acid, I also miss the space bar a lot and end up with 12 words stuck together.

Did an IQ test years ago (when I still had a brain), and aced it. Would probably fail miserably at a mensa one now TBH. Do it for yourself, definitely, but if you start telling ppl, they're going to think you're showing off. Won't do jack for your career unless you're going to work for Mensa or in an academic field. I wouldn't put it on your CV or even mention it at interview. I interview people all the time at work. If they stuck Mensa on their CV I would have to think why. The proof's in the pudding. Just do a good interview, get the job, and do well at it. Some of the best ppl I've hired were not that intelligent. But they were fecking ace at the job.

I'm like Gohan, I can't spell for shit. Some words I can never get right, ever. Even simple words, one that springs to mind is "definitely" every single time I have to spell check it. I can read no problems and devour books and my grammar isn't that bad really.

I do however re-read most things I write and always spell check every email and word document because it is something I am very concious of.

I am good with numbers and logical problems though.

As an interviewer I might not ask that but I would think it if I saw it on a CV...
