What kind of enhancements/performance upgrades (which are noticeable) would i get upgrading from 256 to 512?

next to nothing really [imo] for a workstation. check your current system matey...is it maxing out your resources?

Well, i look up system resources and i see...CPU usage: 4-5%

Though would i be able to run more programmes at a time? Or is there more "umpf/fluidity" when i run a game for example?

ah I was thinking more along the lines of "do you habitually load and manipulate large files etc" that would warrant a possible upgrade. as to games, well not really, unless you're playing the poorly-coded shite called battlefield1942. I hear that the game forks itself in ram each level change ;) also if you run winXP you will prolly see a gain. I hear xp barely runs in less than 256 megs. I may just be a cunt though ;)

gowaan frizzman, j00 know j00 want 512. you have as much a hardon for poota-bits as any of us have. just do it :D

The benefits of having 512mb ram over 256 are that you have twice as much memory, sheesh its not hard.

Just running windows, back ground apps, internet stuff and a single game can easy shoot you into the 350 - 400 mb realms of usage, i'd say 512 was a minimum for anything I'd be prepaired to seriously call my own these days.

Then again in most cases 1gb ram is taking the piss.

Dime

Some programs may benefit. I recently had to transfer one of my 256MB sticks into another machine, leaving me with 256MB total, I did notice Battlefield 1942 maps loaded a lot slower.

hard to tell, but TBH, with the price of RAM nowdays you might as well go for 512MB as a standard.

Pity poor me who's stuck on 128meg running at lowest memory timings and it still seems to perform far worse than it should at that speed.

3 knackered 256meg PC2100 sticks. Only one of which now works at all and then only when the mobo decides not to recognise half of it.

My knackered P3-1gig @750 (heating prob) with 128meg sdr runs faster atm :(

PITY M3H !!!11!!1
