Media PC thingies

I have a Tivo to record my telly at the moment, but I wondered if it would be worth replacing it with some kind of Media PC?

It would be convenient, as I could presumably then get the Media PC to record programmes from the TV, and also it would be able to play stuff I've downloaded from the internet also on the TV?

I reckon I could get a few hundred for the Tivo, how much would a media PC cost, just the base station?

try checking out media portal. its free much better than the shabby win xop MCE and its improving all the time.

as for htpc you need minimum 3gig p4 cpu, 1gig mem. 500gb hdd space (idealy 2tb). pvr card (or 2 if you want to time shift) and a decent gfx card like the 6600gt
