It's just another software IDE driver with a fancy name, no more exciting than the Intel Application Accelerator, albeit this time for drives.

The MaxBoost driver intelligently caches data in the host system RAM before it is written to and read from the Maxtor disk drive, optimizing the effective storage speed of your system in a variety of applications.

Its basically a caching program, it'll more than likely provide small increases in some performance areas and small decreases in others.
