Matter Cab Realm Abilities

My matter cabby (only level 40 bless him) dinged Realm Rank 2 last night. Any thoughts on what realm abilities I should spec for him? Don't want to produce yet another gimped character :(

At this time he has:-

Aug Acuity 2
Wild Arcana 1
Serenity 1
MCL 1

with one free point.

Yes he does have spirit to 3 so he can reclaim power from pets but I find that can still be a very lengthy process from a non-power rez. Also when fighting deep purple mobs in groups he gets a fair few resists so the power regen skills make for faster recharging and faster xp-ing.

Your views welcome though, many thanks.

Wild Arcania 3 or 4.
Seriously, I have WA3 on my mentalist and it's very nice, I'm really considering going the whole hog and getting level 4 of it.

Heres my cabas RAs. Havent played him much so hes only got a few.

MCL
Aug Acuity 2
Wild Arcana 2
Wild Power 2
Purge

Was thinking of taking WA to 3 or 4, but If I continued with him I would spread out a bit more, maybe toughness or serenity or even MoC next.

instead of geting both WP and WA.. concnetrate on one... WP3 was very noticeable for me with my sorc.. WA must be noticeable with your dots so get up to level 3 or 4 of it.. Also some cheap one pointers that are nice to have are Avoidance of Magic and Long Wind. (hey the sprint key is your best friend on the battlefield!)

Also do u really notice a difference with Serenity 1? Do u oop that much in rvr to need it? (i never could see miuch a different with serenity so i dropped it..) Yeah i realize hes 40 still.. but think of the future :)

I got

MCL
aug con1
aug acuity3
toughness1
longwind1
serenity1
WA4
MoA2

WA4 is the main thing tho. Purge is for nancys who dont hide behind walls targetting doors and actually play in open rvr ;p

For comparison my mentalist has:

MCL
Aug Acuity 2
Wild Power 2
Wild Arcania 3
MOM 1
Serenity 1
Toughness 1
Aug Con 1

And some points spare which I'm not sure what to do with. :p

Does serenity make a difference? Yes, I'm always going OOP even with crack 5 and serenity 1. On the other hand I don't know if most cabbies use a baseline nuke as much as a mentalist does.

I am gonna respec soon, one of the things i getting rid of is Serenity. I find it useless.

Hmm, now you mention respec, I might just respec to:

MCL 1 (cos it rocks)
Aug Acu 2 (need this)
Wild Arcania 4 (rawr dots)
Mastery of Magery 1 (it's slightly more on my cap, good for grouping with chanters)
Wild power 1 (more crits always good, too cheap not to)
Toughness 1 (mm hp)

TBH, I can do without serenity, I have mana crack 5 after all. Cabbies don't really need serenity so much because they can reclaim their pets, it really is a downtime only RA, it's not useful when actually fighting.

My current debate is whether to go WA4 or get STT (or even drop WA4 for MotA2).

Thanks all. Serenity 1 was really just to help levelling ... it makes a noticeable difference when I'm completely out of power, but with MCL that doesn't last long anyway.

Speccing Wild Arcana to higher levels seems the best thing to do, just hope it doesn't get me too much aggro in PvE.

The last two nights at Dun Scathaig mentalists have been using STT frequently on me ... must be one of the most useless realm abilities ever devised 'cos it was nothing but a minor annoyance in keep defence.

Maybe it would do more good in open field RvR but then what pet classes actually enjoy open field RvR?

Sorcs? :)

Haha cornell used that on me when we first got RAs and my pet was doing 100dmg to me.. took me a few hits before i figured out wtf had happened... works nicely if you find a fg of pet classes within the ST range... *grins*

With 3 spirit, you obviously have 20+ body, so get MoC aswell, nothing like MoC lifedraining a troll using IP to death as he hits you :D

Make sure you buy MoC early, as it's a pain to try and afford it later on.

After that, MCL is a must. It's all very well saying you can reclaim your pet in order to recharge, but this takes a few passes and too much valuable time - it only really works for static PvE when you can control the time that you rest between battles. To be able to gain about half power back in seconds mid-fight is crucial in extended conflicts and RvR. It also provokes less "group rage", because you'll be back and ready for group-saving action that much faster.
