Massive connection problems for the past 3-4 days

I'm based in London, has ADSL through BT exchange and Freeserve Broadband as an ISP.

For the past 3-4 days I have had massive lag problems, go linkdead all the time and even need to reboot the machine completely when I do in order to connect again.

Freeserve says they are OK on their end
BT says that they are OK on their end and suggest one of my phones may be faulty (phone lines are not too good with lots of bkgd noise, but why would that influence the Internet line ?)

Before I go pay a hefty call charge, can anyone tell me if they have had LD/lag problems (more than usual) recently ?

Thanks.

Just look thru the 10 first topics here on the page, and you'll get the genral idea :)

The past week or so there's been alot more LDs and problems connecting than usual.

What I could suggest you to do is go here: http://www.pingplotter.com/

Download pingplotter, and set up a traceroute to the DAoC server IP (You can see it at the connecting screen when it says "connecting to xxx.xxx.xxx").

See where your problems start, like where the ping goes high (300+) and perhaps if theres any hops with huge packetloss.

If it's withing the 3-4 first hops, it is most likely your isp or your PC, but if it's after the 3-4 first, it's more likely some of the routings that your ISP goes through.

If it's near the end, perhaps it's Wanadoo's network, they host the DAoC servers and aren't excactly some of the best around :)
