rented this on a whim as GOW was already out. i didnt know what to expect, never being a fan of marvel and all that super hero business.
i have to say, after playing it for a couple of hourse, i fucking love it.
gameplay
if you like a good old hack n slash with crazy super power and bits n bobs flying everywhere then this is probably for you. if you want a bit more in depth with a RPG element, this is probably for you. if after all that you want a semi-complex upgrade system.... the combat system is one of the best ive seen so far in a hack n slash. its easy to get the super powers going. its easy to quickly flick thorugh all your team and set them a passive super power going. so far ive not seen any use in controlling any character except wolverine and human torch/flame what ever hes called, but that may change later. there is also many characters you can start with and a lot to unlock. infact, there is a hell of a lot of things to unlock and with 43 achievements, many of them secret, it will probably keep you going a long time. the rest i will leave as a suprise.
graphics
not the best but not the worst. some of the fire super powers look cool and the animations are excellent. the background is crisp and the cut scenes look like something from a movie. the in game cut scenes are also acceptable.
sound
the sound effects are all there, nothing much to say about them. the music is a bit shitty though, ive found playing the prodigy made for a lot more carnage. some of the things the characters say get a bit old too but they dont happen that often.
story
evil man plots to control the world, super heros save it bla bla. the usual
overall i think its quite a good game, if its what your after. after ive taken it back to blockbusters im probably going to have to buy it. there seems to be a lot of stuff going on and i wanna see it all.
