I feel like bashing today.
If you aren't up to date on the latest news:
COO Paul Sams (blizzard) announces:
Now Mark Jacobs gets all defensive and posts:
----------------
My thoughts:
No Mark. COO Paul Sams stated that half of the players, who left for warhammer, has returned.
He DIDN'T state (this is what Mark Jacobs seems to think) that 100% of the 750,000 war-subscribers = x-wowplayers.... And more than 50% of THOSE players have left, to go back to wow.
For all we know: Perhaps 5,000 players came from wow, and 2,500 went back?
I'm not saying 5,000 is the exact amount, but it's ofcourse a lower number than 750,000.
God some people need to redo school. Americans, eh?
I can recommend reading Marks forum post. Very defensive - and a good read. We could use IainC posting something about "borderline... something something".
And the last note: I wouldn't shake Mark Jacobs hand, even if it had a million dollars in it. I always hated WoW for ruining the 2nd generation of MMOs (read: Crappy pvp-system, soloing from lvl 1 to level-cap, without interaction with other players, etc.) - but i have ALWAYS given Blizzard credit for being innovative and being "ahead". What i dislike is some "follow up" company trying to copy everything from its successfull competitor (blizzard): User interface, gfx (yes i know all about the warhammer-license - no need to remind me), pvp-system, you NAME it.
Years ago i heard rumors that the DAoC-engine (read: gfx-engine, gfx and database) were bought from 3rd party, by Mythic Entertainment. When i see such copying from competitors, along with the SAME bugs pops up in Warhammer as DAoC (pbaoe through doors comes to mind), i begin to believe such rumors.
Most likely I'm getting banned from FH now, for posting such blasphemy - but HELL it was worth it.
What do we learn from all this? If you copy+paste a competitor's game, be ready for some bashing - and for god sake turn the other cheek. Don't freak out, and hit back, when you are wrong in your analysis. Listen to your PR-managers and don't reply.
I wont be replying to this thread - but i'll read the comments. Read the stories and develop your own opinions. All my sources are linked to.

Old DAoC player and X-warhammer player - not a wow-player.
