Who decides which maps are to be used on the public servers? There are some really good maps out there that i've never played in a decent sized game.... i think jail (or is it prison) is a great map!! I have seen some other server providers offering custom maps, but either there is no one in there, and even when there is it takes ages to download the maps, or when you don't have to downlaod the servers are really poor.

Why doesn't a decent server provider like Barrysworld run custom maps or some of the other maps that came in the CS download?? e.g heat, jail, and the rest of them that i can't remember.... i have played most of these on a uni LAN and there are some decent maps in there.

Getting bored of the same old maps over and over again

Any reason? Anyone else think the same?

You can't really introduce custom maps onto one of the normal game servers, as lots of players would be kicked when the custom map comes round (remember Vegas just after 1.1?). A single custom map server, with a downloadable map-pack from BW would be excellent.

Dont u remember the custom map servers that bw ran not to long ago? maps like docks etc?

No one was ever on it, there was a load of people who demanded it and then no one played on it. custom map servers are unpopular and thus a waste of a server.

thats my two cents on it anyway.

If you want, a lot of clans run custom map nights, check their websites d/l all the maps before hand and then join that.

No, I don't remember them, but the reason they probably wern't used is that no-one had the maps. A custom map-pack (call it Barry's Maps 1) might do the job.

The maps were avialble from bw, thats the thing it was named custom maps server etc, no one went on it, it was a waste of a perfectly good server.

I played on the old map servers for a bit then got bored.


What would be nice is a CS 32 player server


Now THAT would be mad esp on de_Inferno.

Its Cs not quake, all the 32 map servers out there are 1) laggy 2) deathmath.

And yes i played it not so long ago

during my 10 minutes on the server, i noticed atleast 6 people bitching about cheats, a pair of dimwits slagging at each other about 'you stole my kill'(yawn), then the best one was this guy who was clearing up with an AK, started crying about me killing him. He started having ago at one of his team m8's saying 'you were in my way' ect ect. Which was complete bollox, as i was standing in front of him, and doing the moaning twat while he was reloading

The fact the saddo had a score, of 20-1 after the event couldn't make up for it

After this i stoped in for another couple of rounds then left the server because atleast 7 of the 15 or so players were crying non stop every time they bought it, about one thing or another.

Well you should stop by bw ff servers, I still think the freindliest players live there. And lamers get punished.

On another note, I have had the worst cs day today. Every time I joined a server it was full of lamers, I kicked at least 15 people today. Why do epople tk? why do they continue after an rcon say warning?

Hmm but please come to ff servers, its honestly nice once the lamers are cleared out.

Played on a 18 man ff server.... knife fights only. Now that was a blood bath!! You don't know who you are hitting just jumped around swiping like a mad man.

I still think alternative fire should allow you to throw the knife. Could sit at the back of the garage in Seige and snipe with your knife. In bit of shit once you've let go though.

I also think bw should have a custom map server, i cant remember seing the other ones b4, but i think people are proberly more board now with the maps than they were then. I think u should give it a try. Check out the map cs_futurecom, its very good. think also if u had 1 or 2 perminant custom servers they would become very popular if u picked a good selection of maps, if u didnt then it would put people off.

Also ive played on some 32 peeps server, its ace once u find one with not too much lagg (=SIM= Clan Server (213.228.61.91:27015)), theres no other major problems. I think bw should get one.

Also, What u think about "Admin Mod"? It has loads more options for admins. And you can enable an option for users so that voting is enabled 3mins b4 the end of each map, where they can also "vote extend".

I still think trying custom map servers again would be worth while. Last time BWs world provided custom map servers the 2 servers consisted of the same 3 maps.... all old maps. I only think i saw one server fill out once.

Problem is not everyone everyone who plays on the servers checks out the forums or website and maybe wouldn't have known about the downloadable file. If BW were to set custom map servers up again not sure how you can get around that.

I bet there are a lot of people out there who are getting bored with the same old dust, assualt, office, aztec etc.... imo de_inferno is the only decent map from 1.1. I personlly would welcome back those custom maps servers. Once the word gets round i can see them filling up quickly

well after we took down the dead map servers, deathace posted on the game servers forum asking people what custom maps they would like to see on a custom map server, and no-one replied, and there was a link to it from this forum if I remember rightly...
