Map voting on CS servers

Is there *any* way we could please have map voting disabled on the public CS servers. It's getting so that you can't play a game on anything other than de_dust (no-brain rush-fest) and cs_assault (one-sided snipe-fest). I mean, there's a dust/dust2 only server already and two nuke/militia/dust only servers, so how about giving some kind of sanctuary for those of us who don't want to play on that dull, over-played, under-complicated pile of poo?

Maybe you could hack the admin mod a bit so that it formats the HDs and flashes the BIOS of anybody who tries to call a vote for one of those maps?

i know what you mean.... when the map changes to something like militia, and the players are playing crap, they always give the impression that the map is shit... not them so what they do is vote for * The Better Maps * (ie Dust/Assault) and then vote every furkin minute.. which does piss ya off sometimes...

I beleave i have voiced my oppinions on dust in the past brilliantly. It's blatant TeamDM, with only 2 differant places for fighting to take place. I'd eat my own p00 before i joined a dust only server

lysander: nice suggestion, although I prefer my BIOS flash idea. Hell... you could even flash their BIOS *to* de_dust.bsp

Getting the thread back on track, I think disabling map voting is a good idea too, especially given there are specific servers for most over-popular maps.

The issue here isn't what you think about de_dust (or any other map); it's that it's more interesting to play a variety of maps than have other people making the server play the same map over and over and over and...

I also propose a change to admin mod:

Make it so that whenever a pistol fight ensues, and 1 or the other nme is reloading, both those guys find knives in their hands, and have to cut each other up.

I'm fecking sick to death of running after some guy with a knife, him backing away from me, only for him to reload and shoot me dead. Some people have no sense of humour (or maybe they do.....)

Especially when people buy a DE. As i've said, good gun, poor pistol. If you catch them right, they blow their 7 shots all over the place, leaving you the chance of a frag.

Map voting being on means you never get to some of the maps; and I for one am a bit sick of always playing Dust... - just adding another voice here.

on the subject of wierd behavior i was on a server last night and a bloke came on shouting "stop stop!everyone come together no shooting and we'll make a pyramid" to which like one person said yeah ok and the rest of us said "no".the odd thing was this lad got really annoyed about it,eventually gave us all a good slagging then pissed off.

I don't mind Storm, but I can't see anything most of the time... even with gamma set to high The amount of times people vote dust or assault is silly too. No skill maps

Dust 2 is fine and a lot of fun with good players, prodigy is very good too, though I haven't actually got a positive score on it yet since before Christmas (damn you Jobs and that damn scout / aug of yours ).

Italy isn't played enough at all, nor Nuke or Militia.

Gah, give me admin powers and the world will be mine!!! Well, at least the good maps

I think the point is more that we'd like all of the maps to be played, rather than the servers just being voted to the same old ones over and over again, no matter how much a few people may like them. I mean, nuke's my favorite CS map, but if it was played as much as dust is on publics, I'd probably get sick of even that.

What's so unbeleavable about that? I'm a big fan of AS maps, so i love it when either tundra or opilrig comes on. I used to have a load of custom maps, so i had like 10AS maps

you have the choice to vote for what you want, if dust gets voted a lot i guess because it is still popular to the majority of cs players,

me personally dont mind dust, my favs are dust2, prod, italy, nuke, militia

but everyone to their own

i liked as_forest that was a fun map, i dont mind oilrig or tundra, but sorry the es maps sucked lambs testy's ( no offence sh33p)

i think we should have a few oldies on all the bw servers, like facility, weapon depot, outpost, then people would be able to vote for older maps on any server, would make a nice change, and bring back some fond memorys, custom servers only are a waste really as no one really plays them, but if the maps were available on all servers, would be good

jobbie: there are servers specifically for most of those maps already. Barrysworld should make at least some attempt to cater for the people who *don't* like them.

Take the point about playing the same maps over but a better
solution would be to not allow a map to be played again within say a 3-4 map countback.

I think the map voting needs to stay in some form.
You get those early morning moments when the map switches to 747 and everyone buggers off leaving 5 ppl on the server.
In which case it's real nice to vote up a more popular map and get some new blood (sic) in the game.

Personally I luv dust2, dust is ok if you get good players on, otherwise (T's especially) you tend to get murdered.

cs_747 Is one of my favourite maps, bloody marvelous

There's so many hostages on it, i once managed to afford a para on the 2nd round! We were CTs, we rescued all the hosies, killing the last T as we did so, and i didn't die, hence enough for para and ammo. I love that map for scouting/para/m3, especially if you make good use of smoke grenades/FBs
