No, mana elds are quite nice.. though slightly less nice than enchanters because of their slower casting speed of the pbaoe but an eld can spec some nicer support lines for RvR .. mana chanter is pretty much fixed on pbaoe..
Do excuse me if this is twaddle, but wouldn't both a mana eld and a mana chanter end up casting their PBAE same speed? I understand hard casting time cap is at 2secs, and it's actually very easy to hit that cap with a 3sec base cast time spell.
That was my understanding certainly, can anyone be arsed to comfirm?
There´s always a littl delay if u r mana eldri, played one lvl 49 and mana chanter lvl 48, both with lastest pbaoe, sure mana chanter´s pbaoe rulez r vs r... but p vs e ATM eldri´s more powerful due to cold damage (sux in r vs r and soon to be changed with 1.xx patch). About cap... even with the best buff, my pbaoe still a step slower than mana chanter, tested that r vs r with a stun and pbaoeing, nothing beat a mezzed oponent... move ahead, stun, pbaoex3 (or 4 if u r chanter) on that guy
Did 600+ on conquere (sp?) last nite with mana chanter, tnx goddess nobody has got energy resist or at least much less that cold/heat/spirit hehehe
Mana eldritch´s good due to a couple of reasons: AE MEZ 15 sec if u go full mana, and NEGATE SIGHT lvl 19 shadowcontrol, it´s THE annoying spell and mage/archer killer r vs r, sure load of ppl have been complaining about how xuthos does that on em hehe. Beside those, u got a AE str/con debuff (sux atm, but funny) and a AE DISEASE, still to discorver how the snare component works on it, but casting that on a keep defense on middies and coupled with an AE DOT´s quite deadly, middies got NO group heal but instas, at least not in this patch, correct m if I´m wrong, it really hurts (funny 4 me to look) when a ranger NPC shoot at a troll and the healer trying to heal him without success coz the healing rate´s halved, and then he found his group´s almost died hahaha
To make a good "suicide" bomb (just 4 chanters) u must make sure ur enemy r busy dealing with ur tanks, till 1.48 mana chanters ranged dd REALLY SUX, so my strategy´s wait till tanks r engaged each other, step in while putting pet on mages/healers and pbaoe, 3 pbaoe or 4 till they say wtf... and dropping down, have killed 4/5 at once twice so far (both middies and albs), luckily they were targeting sb else... lvl 50 moosed hero, and it´s really exciting when u kill 4 or 5 at once within 6-8 sec hehe.
One last word, always ALWAYS put urself ON the mob, aka stepping on it´s head (if it´s too big use /stick and move a bit, if it´s flyer look at its shadow) to maximize ur damage output, most of low lvl pbaoers I´ve seen don´t know about it, they just says: "it´s AE, so no matter where I am it´ll always hit" uke:
As Tamahome said the PbAoE are of a different damage type, most Mids and Albs have capped their cold resists because a lot of our spells are cold based. Also mobs have different resists vs energy or cold.
However the mana eld PB AoE gets changed to energy based in patch 1.50. But it'll be Christmas before we see that happen here.
Hope they really bring it on at xmas... at least they r trying to do sth... (playing cs all the day maybe? )
Disease is still broken, but u can test it by hitting an alp lucachra (sp sor, can´t remember), or a parthanan, u got 0 hp regen rate V annoying, and half all healing spells. If u suffered by that u´ll know prolly how a big troll feel when during 1 min+ he can´t regen hp at all even sitting and all the healing spell´s halved (cure disease... actually there r 2 healer kind in middie... shammy broken and healer few, if his group healer don´t cure him, prolly waiting 1-2 min till the effects wear off ) Oh yeah it´s evil and fun.
