I use Go-Zilla and after i have D/L'ed it i have 2 options
1). Unzip
2).Install
When i select unzip it places the file in a folder named OSP but it dosn't install it into my q3 directory as far as i can see :-(
how ever i have just checked my Q3 folder and it does have a OSP folder in it but with only these two things in it:
Q3config and Q3 key ...
grrrrrrr lol please help me out /.
thnx Gav

Ah mate!
Gozilla is top program imo and I use it a lot, but tbh, the zipzilla integration is pants!! Dont use it!!!
Ok, to fix it for now .........

go into windows explorer and find where gozilla put the files ....... (I think it prolly put it in 'c:\windows\desktop\osp') .... now grab the osp directory with the right mouse button and drag to your quakeIIIarena directory ........ let go ..... click on 'move here' (it will ask u if u wish to replace. Say YES) and voila!! you shoud now have an osp directory with lots of other stuff in there too :D

For future reference, I'd turn off zipzilla in gozilla options and download the evaluation version of winzip 8.0 at http://www.winzip.com

You will find that many mods come as an executable file, e.g. something.exe , which means you just go to the directory where gozilla downloads stuff to, double click the file and follow the instructions.
If you download and .zip file, double clicking it will load up winzip. First thing to do is check for a README file, which will tell you where to extract to ...... you then click 'extract' and point it to the right directory as described in the readme file. If you get a zip file that doesnt have a readme, the website u get it from should give some clue as to where to extract the files to. The only other way to tell really, is to look to see if 'paths' are enabled (e.g. a column in winzip window that says something like 'osp\maps' for example). In this example, you'd look for a where the osp directory is on your machine and extract it there, e.g. if you found u had a directory called 'c:\programfiles\quakeIIIarena\osp' you'd extract the files to 'c:\programfiles\quakeIIIarean' and the 'enabled paths' will ensure that during the extraction, it creates the 'osp\maps' bit, etc.

ok? :)

yeah hehe i think so read on

ok str8 after i posted that i had a look at winzip and i think i done the right thing ....
it seems you have an option once you have D/L'ed to use winzip to unzip your file to a specific location - i directed it to my quake3 main folder and it seems to have put the folder in there and all of osp's contents are in the folder as far as i can see =IS IT REALLY THAT SIMPLE= ?

i have tried to visit your clan chat area ch@meleon through the chat client you get with rocket arena with no luck :-( (i typed in /join #Ukclan_bop <--is that correct does that program not support irc ????
if its any help i do have ms chat (latest version)

ok now everything is becoming clearer there is just a few more things i need to clear up ..

to use rocket arena i am going to the mod section of my q3 game and i am loading it up - however when i do this it dosnt bring up the ra3 menu straight away - i have to goto multiplayer and find an ra3 game from the normal Q3 menu and then dissconnect from it be 4 i get the ra3 menu...(saying that tho ..when i load up ra3 from the mods area the command console thing says rocket arena 3 so i spose it does load it but i dont get the ra3 menu...
also.. do i need to goto mods and do the same when i wanna play on osp servers ??

Ps - Thanx again guys for ya support - i am really gratefull !!

i feel so fuggin thick tho lol you all must have been playing quite a while and know ya stuff!!
Thanx Gav! :)

Gav's back :D hehe

Right ......... I dont know what irc server the ra3 mod uses cos ive never tried it, which is prolly why it didnt connect, but if u go to our news section and then look at 'quickinfo', all the details are there to connect yourself to our irc channel. Basically, go get yourself mirc (ms chat is bit sh*t) from http://www.mirc.com and add the quakenet or b0rk irc server as described in our website quick info area, or indeed irc.barrysworld.com. If you have problems with this, go get icq from http://www.icq.com and add me to your list 13252578 and ill guide u through it.

You sound as if u are joining multiplayer games from the 'in-game' menu, which is prolly why your not getting on too well imo.
**DO THIS BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE** - go to http://www.gamespy.com and download gamespy. Use this to find and join q3 servers. It will know what the server is running, i.e. ra3, osp, standard ctf, tdm, dm, etc and load the relevant one automatically.

RA3 doesnt use OSP btw and your probably having problems getting to the ra3 menu because it's only really a multiplayer mod. If you have your settings all pretty much ok in normal q3 (i.e. dm, ctf, tdm), you shouldnt really need to change much in the ra3 menus and anything you do need to change, you can do while spectating in an online game.

Get gamespy and mirc working and then pop in and see us in our irc ............. but make it earlier rather than later cos things get a tad strange in there as the evening goes on ;)
