Metal Slug, KoF, Street Fighter? pffft! The greatness of MAME comes from it's wealth of utterly obscure games. So, any hidden gems you'd care to share with us?


I'd like to tell the world all about I'm Sorry. It's a pacman/mr do style maze game from Japan, and it really really shows.

You play as a chubby businessman who must run around various arenas avoidin getting your arse spanked by the enemies (literally) and collecting gold nuggets and taking them back to base.

Despite being in one of the most samey arcade genres there is the design is fresh and interesting, the music brilliant and it brings enough new gameplay elements to the table to be singled out above the other maze games out there. If you like pacman et al I implore you to at least give it a shot.

Been spanked several times... not an easy game, but yeah its very cool, even my gf would like that one. Got to level 3 and noticed u cant smack the barrel away

after obtaining (legally, of course!) every single rom for .61 after having just a few hundred for the previous versions, me and some mates stumbled upon this FUCKING BIZARRE jap game, which is quite funny over kaillera even if nobody has a clue.

I'm currently in the process of obtaining the parts to build a SuperGun. (Arcade cabinet without the cabinet) If anyone is interested I'd be glad to document my progress as well as websites that I'm obtaining parts from.

Nearly got a Street Fighter 2 PCB last night. Damn eBay snipers though.

its good most of the time, but a little too laggy for perfect play, so its kinda impossible to really fuck shit up combo wise in sf etc.
plus, the version of mame with kaillera hasnt been updated to .63 yet, so no killer instinct online

That keith and stacy is very similar to Quiz and Dragons by capcom iirc, except not quite as absurd and also has the benefit of being in english...

Whipped however wins the stupidly bizarre game yet, soon to try it!

Im also making a cabinet, but having battles with my gf over space needed. I have all the guts etc, screen, and a pooter powerful enough to run all but cruisnusa (reportedly needs a 4 ghz cpu to run), so yeah, updates of ur cab (wtf is a supergun?) would be pretty cool

i get 30 ish fps on cruisin (1.6ghz, but only a gf2)

i'd estimate a 2ghz with a r9700 would run it fine

Basically a SuperGun is a JAMMA aracde cabinet without the arcade cabinet. I'm not outting a PC in a cabinet here. I'm buying some joysticks, buttons and a load of wire and then buying the actual aracde boards for the games.

The game board plugs into an edge connector which is wired up to all the componants. (Power supply, joysticks, monitor, etc.) and then you can play the game as you would in an arcade.

All i heard was cruisn usa running at 100% isnt possible on a p4 3gig even, this was in #byoac on some server i forget..

Also whatever graphics card u have doesnt really matter as the games only use 16 bit colours and all the games run in software mode... main thing u need for roms is cpu and ram and cruisn apparently recquires that to run at 100%

Im probably completely wrong btw, but thats all i heard, why ud even want to run that shite game is totally beyond me

Anyone else having problems getting Killer Instinct to work on 0.63?


It says there is a file missing.

I havent tried it (hate K.I. and cruisin etc.).

But all rom sets come with a bios file, have u tried installing it (if there is one), look at the list of iles in the k.i. page and check for a bios, they all need one such as the neogeo roms, the cps1 and 2 series etc. i know k.i. is a hard drive image, i would imgine it needs a bios too

Stick it in the roms folder if there is one

In order for Killer Instinct to work you need the Hard Drive Image that came with the Game Board. The file you want is kinst.chd. The image is 95 MB in size. I can't link to where the image is here. But it's very easy to find. Have fun.
