Had the good fortune to be list holder for a 2nd day today. ~~

Why dont people take some initiative and make a Yar group?

Look at the size of this list, it was longer at some point too.

At once point there was 51 people on.

Its really not helpful if you leave name and then play an alt without saying, and pm a few hours later asking why your not in grp.

When you msg list holder dont say hello and stuff, just leave name/lvl/class/altname. He doesnt want a conversation, he is busy sorting list and stuff.

And please dont moan at list holder when you've been waiting 5 hours for grp, either go and start a grp outside of malmo, or ask for list and make Yar/Lake/H-stone group.

Hiya all,

Newish to Mid, and I now have my first character high enough to go to malmo (though from some of the stuff i have been reading I am not sure I want to!). However, I do understand why everyone wnts to be there and would very much appreciate it if someone can explain to me how exactly it works with the list. Do you just arrive in malmo and /y for the list holder or something or should you develop esp and just know? And should by miracle or chance I actually get to play how does the G1/G2 set up work? Anything else I need to know?

katzeyez you can yell, say and PM randomlyselected peeps in Malm and ask for the listholder. Then PM the listholder and don't forget to tell your class and lvl, ask for your q-number in your first send and wait for one minuite for a reply.. if no reply send same agian
When you now know that you are ~30th on the list ask the listholder to send the list via mail,icq etc to you. Then try make your own exp grp but you will notice that the list of 30 is actually a list of 10active and 20afk/logged ones.. when you have your char to hit 50 you will notice that you also have leveled an alt to 35 and capped all BGs.. .. it was pretty much like this for me

Wake up early on Saturday and Sunday and join the forming of the first grp of the day and you'll hit 50 pretty fast..

Yes just /y who list holder today plz? or pm a guy and ask from outside malmo when u log in.

Theres not much order there anymore. It varies from day to day for fairness and fun. My opinion is to just make an excuse and log if it becomes "un-fun" getting to 50 isnt the be all and end all of the game.

grp 1 is generally 45+ (altho these days its rarely true)
grp 2 is generally <45 (and those trashy charcters considered unworthy to be grp 1 material ie:hunters, Shadowblades)

group 1 pulls 4 drakulvs each worth about 40m XP each + 12m?group bonus and then both groups happily hack up the monsters either via PBAoE (VASTLY superior) or Mezz and root and then 1 by 1 (extreeeeeemley boring and slow but this happens 99% of the day)

Problems occur when grp 1 (that conists 50% of CRowd control and pulling members) Naturally begin to do less damage than Grp 2 with usually consists of bare ammount of healing and pure tanks or casters. THe Exp. Can drop dramiticaly for grp 1 and this will result in /crying Whining and general bad atmosphere. Likewise a Strong group 1 with 2 PBAoE SM can anihilate all XP from grp 2, resulting again in strong /crying whining and general depression.

Many a brave person has tried to balance the groups when this happens but let me tell you 50% of the time nothing comes from it just more whining/cry etc

A few Tips to Surveying malmo id say........

Any experience is better than none 4x8million is better than nothing and/or soling with downtime (pulling at malmo is constant withonly a few rests for power and dodging the dragon)

People these days think that being in grp 1 is always superior to grp 2 its rarely the case in my experience.

remmber getting 20m xp at lvl 49 and 20m xp at lvl 44 is not exactly balanced its about 4x worse for the higher lvl guy.

If you want a spot it starts early, crazy euopeans, at 7am or something ungodly- if you have a life/job malmo is difficult to get through. on average expect 1h wait for every place you are on the list (just a rough guide) so if you are 20th consider something else, However this dosnt always apply as certain classes IE PBT HEALERS SHAMMYS are rare and often get bumped along the list.
HOwever people tend to leave around 12 midday, 6Ish evening, and also during the hourly 5 minute rest known as dragon time. Im sure they only put this in to stop them being sued(sp?) by irate mothers and fathers of american kids with RSI and bad posture

Dont go AFK all the time it really annoys people,
DOnt spam the list holder every 30 mins with silly questions
DO expect to miraculously dissapear from the list on certain days after 10 hour waits
DO have fun and talk to some crazy people
DO cover up the XP blue line/Dots with your compass icon it rearly does make time go faster not watching the blue line.
Grp 2 will do everything in their power to out damage grp 1 for loot and XP and will whine, but when they reach 46+ish they will be grp 1 and whine about grp 2 being over powered etc etc.

XP OVER TIME not per pull is all that matters in malmo
a bubble an hour is good going over lvl 45

hmm .... thats all i can think of now anything else u can see when you get there its not rocket science just teamwork.
a little drop of leadership gos along way in this game so good luck trying to start 2nd or 3rd grps i did it a few times its hard work.

I managed just fine to hit 50 without doing malmo. (had 0.3 bubs xp there while helping out on a epic quest, and we had to help a level 49 ding )

The xp was perhaps not as fast as in malmo, but I did not spend hours waiting on a list. So guess my xp/hour was better

Anyway. There are lots of other ways to get xp than malmo. More fun also, run about with a few friends, explore the realm.. But I guess most play this game just to hit 50 so they can join the emain madness.

Don't see why people don't xp in the SI dungeons, or DF for that matter

I've been doing DF most nights now, helping some guildies get to 50. The xp is roughly a bub an hour for the lvl 48 (now 49)

Was just the old root and bash approach. Moving around the diamond circle, going to cambios by hib side for some good group bonuses.

And we got the added pleasure of fighing albs too.

Though trollheim is damn sweet for xp too... no istting about, camping the same spot.
But I guess most people want to camp the same spot, kill the same mobs over and over and over and over again.
Wish some people would take some initiative :/

Have to say having done some farming in SI today that Trollheim and Iarnvidiur's Lair would rock as XP spots for a single group. The drop rate was insane too - we had 50 drops from our hunt this afternoon.

yes yes its very true but that takes 1 ounce of organisation its alot simpler to say "Hello, please can you add my 47 Warrior to the list for grp 1 tanks, thank you" and go and do something more interesting than DAoC for a few hours

btw, you know after heavy camping of one spot, you end up with negative campbonus? bet some camps in malmo is not worth more xp than soloing blues during peak hours.

well, at lair in malmo, you pull from 3 or 4 different spawns

And the mobs spawn so fast that camp bonus can actually happen, even if you've xp'ed there for a loooong time

Depends on how fast your group is to kill mobs.
If you are in a pbaoe group, then Trollheim/Iarnvidiur isn't good enough, the spawn is simply too slow. Besides, you have to move around to find new mobs, which takes time.

In malm, you can stay at the same spot and pull at a decent rate before you run out. The spawn rate is quite fast.

There is one room in trollheim that has redcon mobs.

Special thing with it is that the mobs almost instapop, find a nice spot there and it's like malmo but with unique drop generator and afaik higher droprate.
