MALM and this time not a flame thread...

Hi there

I have been in Midgard since February now and this early morning levelled my first char to 50 (Eni, the female troll skald).

Before I have been doing a lot of fun guildlife in the Amazons of Midgard and playing all 4 of my chars (Numia, Vivienne and naturally Anouchka). Taken the time I got to 50 I can not necessarily be considered a powerleveller

Two weeks ago I decieded enough is enough and I went off to take my tough Malmohus experience ride with Eni...

Everytime I had been there before it was terrible and the threads in this forum do not show otherwise...
... But I am posting this as I seriously believe Malm and gamefun can be brought into a nice relationship.

It is the attitude of the ppl and some very basic rules to be set up and agreed upon and u eliminate 80% of the possible discontentness.

- Group1 needs to survive, thats a basic one really but if g1 forgets that g2 is here to have fun too, then malm becomes a horror for everybody

- Drops are nice but should be distributed through a clear and undiscussed rule (we played by highest who really needs gets but often the highest refused as it seemed more fair that a 46er gets a drop than a 48er close to epic).

- Whining destroys game fun for EVERYBODY. Poor XP is better than none and if soloing is better then go on and do it but dont stay and ruin it. There are ALWAYS ppl who try to balance xp between grp but if the emotions flow freely it gets tough...

- Listholding must be fair !!! and the team led by one person who decides. Waiting is terrible but if the grp acts unfair it gets unbearable.


Four simple rules which are so easy, but sometime so difficult to adhere to...


I am basically writing this post to THANK 95% of the ppl I have been grouping with in the last 2 weeks. -> It was a real pleasure !!!!

Today some who also levelled with me called me to help out with epics as they did with mine and taking all Amazons online for a nice Vanern dive wth Ydona I can only hope this new found friends stay close...

Too many names to remember (don´t be offended if I forget some): Dettox, Whiff, Madax, Agelmere, Fex, Belxavier, Baltasar, Bjodala, Krill, Dillyana, Svendoc, Sigge, Ogmarin, Grymlina, Tandor, Sadiera, Aseli, Taker, all those troll shammies who choose names noone will EVER be able of remembering, Onosendaii (some rouffle in first day but sure a great runey and person), Random, Luktar, Olvil, and last but not least Aarween 50healer ungrouped selfishlessly helping us out

... and to the ones currently in or soon entering Malm please make it a fun place to be in cause it only depends on ppl standing in for it...

... and, if you ever need ENI for Epic, fun or enemy bashing just call upon me !!

I recently got to 40 and have heard that I should be getting ready for Malmohus. Hopefully there will be as nice people there as you had in your groups at least once in a while.

Congrats all, especially Eni!

One reason Malmo can be difficult is that it helps to stay all day, or at least as long as you can. As lists grow quickly, if you are not there at the start you can expect to wait. Last time I took a day out I arrived at an early time to find the first group was up and I was number 1 on the list. About 2 or more hours later we had enough to begin a second group at the lair and I had an excellent day. But I can't afford such time, my work in Jordheim and the family in Galplen all need some attention as well. I've had others mention this as well.

So a suggestion: can those of us who cannot stay such long days and who are resistant to mortgaging our time in Midgard to a Malmohus list try actively looking for groups elsewhere. Especially in that time most of us arrive in the evening and have a good few hours to spend. Darkness is my favourite place, I learn just as quickly there as I do in Malmohus with some good companions. But Raumarik is good and Vanern as well. We have had this before as well, some months ago there were campaigns to get people out of Malmohus and Spindelhall and into Vanern, Raumarik, Uppland, just so people have a chance of finding a group elsewhere.

Oh ... and just in case .... this is no criticism of Malmo, just an attempt to call for those of us who have different ways of being in Midgard to get together.

... indeed Krill is right, besides its useless to have a waiting list of 23 ppl if u need 16 to start off a new group...


Its just someone taking the initiative and the work to get the list and assembling a new cg. The already formed groups should (and most often will) support this by helping to move ppl from one grp to another if there are too many healers, runeys, main tanks or casters... Besides when one starts asking around one rapidly find the missing group elements... so being active is better than waiting until someone else bothers to do it (even if it requires a lot of organizational work).

and then its useless to sit and wait, play an alt or go somewhere else... DF and Raum are just as fun with one group and ppl 40-42 should seriously think about wanting to be the "peasants of malm" or the "kings of spind"...

You deserve 50 and thanks for helping me get into malmo a few days back

My thoughts on Malmo are that with the right sort of group it can be fun, most of the time I have spend there so far has been enjoyable due to the people I have been with. Last night for example the whole of our groups got wiped out, there were no complaints just loads of amusing coments as we saw half of Malmo's mobs come towards us.

Malmo sucks but the people there make it fun (as it can be)

The only problem is waiting for groups, but playing an Alt passes the time there.

Anyways Gratz again Eni and go kill some albs while the rest of us get to 50

I dinged 50 last night too and I must say, I am DAMN glad to be rid of Malmo.

Humph.. Malmo Humph... so far my experince of Malmo hasent been great, thats only because the list holder decided that he would bump me a lowbie 42 SB in favour of his m8's, or prefered tanks, without even a hint as to why... he did this twice on seperate days, I have no intention of naming the culprit, he knows who he is....

the last one went somthing like this...

ME: Hows the list looking m8?
HIM: Its not bad, zero on it
ME: Great OMW from Spin
HIM:OK
<long run with short kobold legs to Malmo Lair>
ME Here now, inv plz.
HIM: Were full
ME: But you said zero on list
HIM: Aye but we are full now.

I wander off to the Yar groups to find that the list is short and soon get an invite...

then its dragon time....., Lair group comes rushing over.... and leaves, taking with it three tanks from the Yar group...

ME: Thaught you said you were full?
HIM: We are now
ME: Yes, with people from the yar group, I was on the list before
HIM: Well now we are full..

The end result is the yar groups disband, because pulls without the tanks would be suicide... a few remaining souls wander over in the hope that a slot may come available at the Lair...

OK OK, so I'm whining a bit.. I dont like to whine, but please please if you are going to take the responsibility of holding a Malmo list, do it with honesty and do it well... its really quite soul destroying to trudge all the way to malm to get bumped by some twat that doesnt run a clean list.., if you need the level 50 healer to join G1 before this largly innefective 42 SB, then tell the SB why.. most of us will understand. But dont invite your guildies or other m8's out of turn....

So for now.. I will kill scavs until ding 43, and then return to Malmo in search of honest list holders....
