Lvling a 100% Fire Wizard

If you are thinking of making a Fire Wizard here are my tips.

Character:
Avalonian for their high Int,Dex,Qui

Add 10spec points in each
Int = 90
Dex = 70
Qui = 80

Save you spec points until you reach lvl5 as the spells you get in earth and ice are enough to see you through till then.

Once you reach lvl5 and journey to Cam put all points into Fire giving you:

Fiery Bolt lvl4 Ranged Attack
Fire Wind lvl5 Direct Damage
Lesser Combustion lvl3 Direct Damage
Explosive Blast lvl5 Area of Damage

Attacking

Con Green and Blue are very easy mobs to kill and this is the method I went for.

Fiery Bolt + Fire Wind + Fire Wind, this should take care of any green with out them even getting close, sometime another Fire Wind is need to finish a Blue off.

Yellows can be a little tricky or very easy, easy ones fall after 1 Fiery Bolt and 3 Fire Winds, now as long as you casting at you max range they will not even get close, if however your Bolt misses the mob will be attack at full health, I can suggest two things.

1. Hit it with 3 Fire Winds and then 1 Quick cast Fire Wind when it is on you, you will probably be hit at least once.

2. Have the Freeze Mes to hand and Freeze the mob you now have a chance to sprint further away and wait 18sec for your Bolt to cast again then your be fine.

BUT mez can always miss two, so if your bolt misses and then you mez does your in trouble so just turn and run your have a distance between you anyway so the mob will give up very quickly.

ORANGE this can be down but you take your chance it is a gamble. I have taken many orange con mobs and I found this to work best

1 Fiery Bolt + Fire Wind + Freeze Mez run to max distance 1 Fiery Bolt + Fire Wind + Freeze Mez run to max distance + Fire Wind + Fire Wind

This will take down an Orange Con the most important part is the freeze mez if the first one misses you only have one choice and that is to run. If the second misses you can keep casting fire and then use a quick cast when it is on you, but remember an orange con will hit you hard. or run and come back for him.

Always remember to BUFF every little bit helps, don’t cast unless you are at max distance allows you time to make decision if things go wrong.

Explosive Blast!!! This spell I have not had much use for as if you cast it your likely to pull 4 or more mobs, the only time I have found a use for it is when a group is under attack from 4 or more mobs, I can then cast this and run like hell as it will pull the mobs of the others and come after me, but being as I start to sprint a long time ago they will never catch me and give up, hence given the other party to escape.

As this spell becomes more powerful it will have more of a use I am sure.

Grouping
When hunting in groups if possible have someone else do the pulling DO NOT pull if you are the highest level in the group or same level, as you are the biggest hitter in the group and lower level tanks will have a hard time getting the mob aggro off you, let a scout or armsmens pull wait for them to get it down to 80% life then step in and blast away, trust me even if they start to take damage and start asking to start DO NOT unless they have hit it a few times, else with you first cast the mob will be on you and you will die.

Stand well back from the group as well all your attacks have excellent range; you fire bolt has one of the best in the game on par with scouts.

Once a pull has been made you have time so check to see if any adds are coming if so hit them with freeze and deal with them after the first pull.

If the add only cons blue or yellow and the group has the first pull in control you can take it on yourself if you feel the need.

Remember RANGE is your lifeline if something is too close DO NOT CAST, a blue and even a green can out melee you.

Because simply they are the 3 most important areas of a Wizard, but this is only a guide if you think you know better or want to try putting them into different areas that is fine.

Quickness will make you swing faster with your staff, so it's pretty USELESS. I made the same mistake.
Instead put it into Con, so you'll die a little less fast.

I'm not a DAoC player yet (Should arrive sometime in the next few days) but I am sure I read somewhere that Quickness affects how fast your spells cast as well as how fast your melee attacks are, although I could be wrong :)

At lvl50 a capped dex will give you 25% faster casts then a default dex.

btw putting 10 points in conc will do bugger all. u are wizard, u dont need hit points, putting 10 points into conc will save u maybe for one hit, and thats like after MANY levels,

its best to put 10 int, 10 dex, 10 str,

the 10 str helps u carry loot, if u get over weight picking up loot and a mob attacks u, u are dead, u cant drop loot and run fast enough to out run mob to.

this is called kiting, and wil not be possible once/if we get to 1.50 due to insane regen rates of mobs (faster than you)

Hmm not possible after 1.50 you say, ah well gives me about a year of lvling this way then, by the time 1.50 comes out he'll be long time 50 and not doubt retired.

I'm a mage, and have 45 str in total. And i never have problems with heavy loot.

imho is it even difficult to solo a yellow
(maybe not with 1.45 because you have a personal bt) but still i always die after a few yellows... but it happens a lot that my root fails... and that even my quickcast root .. also fails... that means.. DEATH argh :(


how the hell do you take oranges?

lots of resists, and if is works... it takes 5+ minutes or so... sucks


and btw i used my points in quick to... just not knowing better.. but i wont do it again ... better to have more health, especially in groups where they cant take aggro of you... or a cleric that rather heals tanks then nukers grrrrrrrr (happend more then once :p)

and idd with +dex you will cast faster, i have a lot of them, and now i cast as fast as a ice wiz

You must be doing somthing wrong, Yellows i take all day, Grove Nymph yellows fall before the even get close, SP Giants and Giant Boars and Great Basi all yellow to me at lvl20 and i have no problems with them, only time i die is if i dont see the add or i am not a max range before i start to cast.

As for roots, they are a gamble but Blue and Yellow i would say 90% Roots first time, Orange is 60% as in more often than not.

Are you full spec fire, I am currently lvl20 with fire at 20 but i am casting at 25 with items.

yup full fire ... but like i said, i had not bt at that time


but even now, yellows are difficult
lvl 46 atm

and there werent that much items either :x

Damn that is really odd, i mean at lvl46 you should have some kickass spells. I use the Bolt from the Fire Spc line and the DD from the Pryo line.

I find this very odd, unless the mobs at your lvl just have high resist and low bonus against fire, which makes sense, but makes it very hard for to do anything solo.

I mean at your lvl i dont know what you are hunting but try to go for things that dont have a liking to fire like Undead.

maybe :) but i prefer grouping, i hate it to loose much xp just because my root resisted twice.. and all the nice ones baf :(

dont have aoe root ;)

Yeah if we had that AOE we would be the best magic users in the game, i guess thats the reason we dont, keeps the balance.

soloing is v.boring anyway imho, i prefer a group over playing on my own any day :)

i think everybody does :) otherwise it would be better to play a singleplayer game ;)
