Sup f00s!

Booked a cottage for me and the folks (nan has been a bit ill so thought they all deserved a break) Anyone know the area well and can recommend some decent places to visit? Bearing in mind my folks are 60+ and Nan is nearly 80.

Antiques, halls, country houses stuff like that.

Cheers Freds

Camelot gates are a short walk away, as is Humberton, if your feeling like a hike there is always the walk up to Swanton keep, keep out of the nearby forest though, its full of snakes and wolf called "throatripper".

What? :p

I thought Scouse's post was going to be the most pointless and least helpful.

Then someone came along and DaoC'd all over the place.

Ludlow itself is good for a wander around - market/medieval town centre and small castle and the bridge accross the river to the west of the town is extremely picturesque and has a visitors centre/cafe by the river on the northern side. Theres a decent food pub on the edge of ludlow at the A49 roundabout where it intersects Sheet road called the Squirrel thats reasonably priced.

Craven Arms has a visitors centre - Secret Hills Discovery Centre with cafe/toilets and nice flat walks beside meadowland/rivers. Theres also a decent chippy with parking at Craven Arms (on the main road just a bit north of the discovery centre over a couple of roundabouts).

The whole region is studded with castles so theres no end of places to visit.

I was there for the Geology so didn't really do the stately homes bit much :)

Oh and I hear the Ironbridge Gorge museums are about the worlds most boring unless you are really really into industrial archaeology...

And I used to go on a school trip to Bradford! Sorry that's off topic.

Blists Hill isn't bad tbh, however the only bit I can remember from my school trips was the fact they had a baker that made fresh bread, mmm.

The actual iron bridge is quite nice to look at, and in general the scenery is quite pretty provided you don't look at the whacking great power station.

Don't go to Telford though, it's just depressing

Brilliant.

Seriously though, my parents have been and went to Ludlow food market. There's plenty of stuff around.
