Re-subbed today and decided to get my epic armor at last ( 4 years late)

Had trouble with step 8, couldnt do it solo basically :p

Then a few ppl turned up at Stonehenge, they were doing the L45 epic.

Politely asked em for hand, and had the insta done in no time.

I then joined their grp, and started the L45 epic with them.

Ofc curious about new guilds, I asked em " why did you decide to play Daoc"

The reply was they liked the theme, the story line behind the game ( which i guess was why a lot of us started)

They are a Live Action Role Playing outfit, still levelling ( they were L46) and a nice bunch.

Basically new people are still playing the game, and thank god are not yet affected by FH !

So, when you can give em a PM and ask if they need a hand with anything. Maybe they will tell their friends " hey play this cool game, lots of friendly ppl there" or something to that effect.

There is still untapped potential in the game for new players it seems, if only mythic/goa would think a little more about advertising in the right place. Full page spread in White Dwarf would be a nice idea. In the meantime, lets give em all the help we can. Word of mouth is a powerful tool.

The Ludlow Militia are teh roxxor :) and we can all be reminded of some of the reasons why we started playing this game. Their will to have plenty of fun and committment to the game is refreshing. Even if they arent all new players.

:worthy:

The name is only a small part of whom we are. We are friends who don't take ourselves seriously or the game seriously. You don't even know us, or how we approach things: Thadius and Malcolm. Is the game really just about trying to prove your better than Mids or Hibs? I don't think so.

I am glad people are starting to warm to whom we are, and what we about. I have friends from Mid and Hib who showed they were better than me in thidranki. When I have chatted to them, on Alb, we've always been able to have a laugh about it afterwards. Especially Toxicsb, Tube, Shazshade and Dirtyshade.

We are not just named after a town in Albion. We are people who respect other players, and are always the first to congratulate players who are better than us. Respect to Thadius and Malcolm - even though you dis our name, you will never break our spirit.

I am absolutely certain there is uncapped potential within the game. Please don't try to place us on a pedestal though. I am not going to engage in flaming people who disrespect us. I know that our commitment to the game and our fun will prove all the doubters wrong. It worked for me in real life when I ran my business, which is a huge success.

Irts only because you were too lazy to think of anything else! :(

nah, we were 8 level 6 chars, someone suggested "Defenders of the Realm" or some such jumped up thing and I pointed out we'd be hard pressed to keep Humberton safe from the ghost hounds...

et voila! 4 years later and it's still true :(

I am glad you are warming to us too, Blood Omen. It is so refreshing to hear Midgardian players being able to have a laugh, and not taking things so seriously. The guild is not about the name, it is about what it can offer to the game. If we can make the game fun for people, who want to return. Then we would have achieved more than the doubters trying to put them off from coming back.

Respect dude

I love that we've got some new and relatively new players in our guild.

I really like that we can all go out on a Sunday night to Caer Sidi, Summoner's Hall or do the bosses in Avalon City as a guild group. Not only is this showing the new players cool stuff but its stuff that some of the older players (including me, tho I'm quite a casual player) have been itching to do for years and just havent til now. I really look forward to our outings even tho I havent got much time during the week to play.

Its made me realise there's still bosses and cool stuff out there I simply have to do before I finish. And if there's ones that I've seen done with a necro, then I want to take a tank group, or do it a different way. Like when we accidentally did GoV hehe.

It does remind me of when I started the game and the entire guild I was in at the time (loads in those days) piled down to Darkness Falls and did some bosses - I was a newbie and it was so COOL! What we're doing at the moment feels like that!

I love how we've got a bit of a competition over who has the silliest pull - at the moment I think the one where about 30 terracites got pulled and look like they're doing the conga looks like winning.

As for the guild name, what Flim says - I wouldnt have been happy with a "uber" sounding name, just one thats nice and down to earth. Plus, we have a rather large proportion of Highlanders and the haggis served at the pub in Ludlow is rather nice.

If you like having fun times, you don't take yourself or the game too seriously and if you respect all the existing members, then sure. We will welcome you into our fold - no harm giving anyone the chance to enjoying the game again.

Nice to see a thread that actually has something positive to say about the game. Keep it up, the enthusiasm could get infectious :)

I just remembered something I forgot to say:

When I start new characters I am surprised at how many either totally new players or players who have come back after a long long time I find.

My middie character is still in the starter guild even tho she is in her 40s now and I occasionally have a nice chat with these type of players.

I recall a lovely person who came on who hadnt played for years and they seemed so enthusiastic trying out a brand new valk and really got into the spirit of wanting to fight for their realm when they "grew up" (yea, they had a nice sense of roleplay about them which I found charming and also fun). I helped them out describing places in Catacombs to level and how to get kit. I can only hope they carried on playing, but to be honest starter guild is usually so quiet and a lot of people keep to themselves.

Similarly when I was in hibbie on Glastonbury during the really quiet bit there was this wonderful conversation I had in the starter guild with someone who was crafting and he had such a great sense of humour. And also the folk who would bow or wave when I bumped into them in out of the way places, because there werent many of us at all at that time. People like that can really help newbies and foster their enthusiasm for the game.

I didn't think that Ludlow was ever a starting town..
Might of been in the oldy days before I started I guess.

Guess you can't expect leetists like Flim to know stuff like that tho. He probably couldn't even tell you where Ludlow was!

I was lucky when I started playing on Midgard too. I chatted to someone who was once a nemesis to my Infiltator in Thidranki, with his Shadow Blade. He proved to be very helpful and had the same degree of enthusiasm as my friends on Albion, and we became friends on Midgard.

I was lucky too when I played on Glastonbury, I met a lady who is a GM on a small and friendly guild, on Albion. Gillian and her guild friends in Angel of Redemption, also possess the same level of enthuasism as we do. We levelled our Hunter and Bonedancer, and we had a laugh, despite her Hunter meeting her demise on the last mob. It was my fault she died, because I was chatting too much and was letting her know who my characters were on Albion. We shrugged it off and laughed, and thoroughly enjoyed the group.

Our enthusiasm isn't just a feature of our guild, I think it is the way we approach the game. Other people can certainly be receptive to it, and we would always welcome and encourage people with whom we group with. If it helps to enrich the gaming experience for people, then we would happily continue doing so.

I am just encouraged to see that people are warming to our philosophy, Golena. It is insignificant to the overall gaming experience, detail like that. I am encouraged though that you contributed to this thread. It shows that people whom may be disheartened, are reading it.

Its great to be part of such an active and fun guild.
The only thing missing now is more people playing. Remember the old days when all the good spots were taken in Keltoi, and you got constant group invites. If only Mythic would ADVERTISE THE FACT that they have the best MMO ever, then maybe the population would grow. Seems bizarre business sense not to really. This game is unique with its PvE and RvR content, others dont come close. EQ, EQ2, WoW and LoTR Beta have taken some of my time but they just dont match up to Camelot.

ADVERTISE THE DAMN GAME YOU MORONS

Detail like that is insignificent to the gaming experience, not to my mocking of Flim however. :fluffle:

Your guild seems to have the attitude in game that is needed to go have fun, and hopefully you'll keep that up for a while to come!

Anyone is welcome to join us: if you're thinking of returning to the server or coming back to Albion. We are pve orientated, but I am trying to get my first rr5 character, so doing more rvr. We are part of a strong and friendly alliance, who have some very active rvr players.

The only rules as such would be: to respect all the existing members and alliance members. Not to take yourself or the game seriously - we try to roleplay characters, which adds to the fun. Finally, we have no expectations of anyone in the guild or alliance. If you wanna have fun on a Sunday night, on our guild raids, you can come if you want. We try to all meet up once a week, to have pure, unadulterated, fun.

The offer is there - nothing holding you back really?
