The books are classic. More for the beauty of the ideas than the chill-factor which is admittedly far higher than most shit horror crapola.

His writing style is sometimes forced but there's such a good flow you can forgive it.

Pity the anthologies I had had fucking terrible cheesy covers.

Ramsey Campbell does pretty good stories in a similar vein nowadays but his writing style is vastly different.
