Lotto Drops

Aye up sensible comment here

Was hunting in the pit underneath Avalon city with 2FGs and when we killed the named mob he dropped a belt. and after a long winded argument about how we're going to decided who got the belt, I eventually won on the random 100 rule, but got a really childish pm from Feeder about how i'm a cheat and i'm on his ignor list etc etc, when having looked over the chat log I did plainly win it fair and square, certainly to the extent that the people who were running the lotto were happy enough to give me it

but anyways, not trying to start an argument here, just want to formally write it here where everyone will agree to it (hopefully)

So i hereby decree that every hunt should always use the same rules for lottoing drops

Always use the /random 100 rule
Alts, Guildys, Mates, Pets, Grandparents, 2nd cousins twice removed are not elegable for the lotto

You are only entitled to enter the draw if the drop is something that is for your class, IE something with high parry +'s is not something for a caster, and something with high intelligence is not something for an Armsman/woman

if no one wants the item, only then does it become a free for all and people can bid for scrap, alts etc etc etc...

Lotto's are done at the END of the hunt, no break for 10 mins whilst we auction off the cuddy toy or the holiday for 2 to the maldeeves. if anything it is a good incentive to keep people in the hunting party and thus allowing the group to go on and kill more stuff.

If you leave the group for any reason, you loose your claim for the auction - if you LD and come back in time to regroup that is fine, if you log for dinner and come back an hour later.. Tough luck!

Designated carriers are decided at the start of the hunt, they should be the first Pally/Arms down the group list from the top. Drops should be handed over immediately after combat so people don't forget about stuff/ steal it and keep quiet

I know most people are already using this system, but i've seen other people using other systems that work equally aswel, but this seems to be the least time consuming. plus if we all agree to it now - then there will be no sitting about arguing about how we auction them off

some ppl dont deserve any drops even if their class can use it...

Didn't read whole thread but if this is a whine about Avalone city "+coldmagic/+parry/1%heat" drops then you should really start thinking about visiting a psych

well

I totally agree with the rules of lotto and all, but since Feeder is the most unselfish guy I know on the server, there prolly was some pretty grave misunderstanding for him to pm you with accusations like that.

Raid leader should make the rules and publish them before the event.

If anyone doesn't like the raid leader's rules, then while they are entitled to suggest an alternative, it's basically tough. If you can't live with them then you make your own damn raid.

There are no other generic rules needed.

[edit: btw, the system you suggest above works fairly well for pick up raids into various areas. I'd suggest something else would usually serve us better on a dragon/legion type raid]

But, for what it's worth, I generally favour lottoing drops by guild (with safeguard to ensure every guild gets an appropriate share of the drops), then let the guilds sort out distribution to individuals in whatever way they damn well like.

If someone has to log the lotto is carried in time before that someone has to log.

well feeder may be the most unselfish guy you know, but when theres 2 full groups and all but 3 people (all in same guild) are happy with the outcome then the majority rule wins.

no need to top yourself over it

no trubble, cause then you risk mass exodus cause people get bored waiting about for drops to be decided and instead of 1 person logging 6 do. and thats effectively hunt over.

No Toke.

If someone has to log, and he isnt suddenly just leaving the raid without announcing it in good time, you have to do lotto.

hmmm the alt thing sux... Take a guy with a theurg and same lvl Infil... If he only gets in lotto with the char he is bringing.. wich char do u think he will bring, and wich char do u think the group would need the most?

im talking about drop hunts here not exp hunts.

I hate lotto's where alts can get drops, you might aswell say everyone can bid on any drop cause thats just how it ends up.

I dont mind someone logging another char because its needed, an infi logging a none buffbot cleric (who am i kidding ), because one grp doesnt have a cleric, i can accpet that the guy states before the raid starts for what char he is going to lotto

/spanner in works mode on

So......I'm an Armsman, I can use shield, crush. slash thrust, pole and a host of other weapons, nobody is as flexible in Alb..

However the chances are I specialised in one areas like Slahs or thrust.

The argument about what class can use it is sorta nulified here.

The would then have to which class/player can use it to its full potential??

If you go down this route then youre doomed to fail also.

eg: 16.5dpps weapon to a sub RR5 character would make it *technically* unsuitable too.

You have to state the rules before a drop hunt, and above all else use common sense.

ok in this case you need to use some commen sense.

IMHO Suitable to bid: It fits your spec (no slash for a thust infi ect) and the item is not red con

ofcourse if noone else wants the drop unsuitable chars can bid, but then use > salavage

sounds very similar to the way I run it...
obviously you want to say what the lotto rules are _before_ you start a raid... but if it's a random 'hey we've got 3 groups here, lets team up and go kill some epic things' raid then you don't have time for that.

This is just a set of rules to fall back on incase there's a pickup raid (and it's better than .. oh I'll collect them all and run off at the end) - just say 'use the sensible pickup raid rules' :)

(For the purpose of this the 'main char' is the char on the raid)

Here's my version, very similar to ToKe's and what I normally use:

The Sensible Pickup Raid Lotto Rules

1. Beginning of the raid nominate a loot carrier. All drops go to them.

2. Announce the items, see what interest there is.

3. Announce each item again in order of interest, anyone who can use it /random 100s.

4. No alts may roll on an item unless no main-chars wish to roll.

5. If you win something, you're out on the rest unless it's unwanted.

6. If you're not there for the lotto - tough. If you end up stuck in Sauvage whilst the lotto is in Avalon or whatever you may be allowed a proxy /random if you have a friend who'll carry the loot for you. You MUST be in the chatgroup to say what you want to roll for. This is at the discretion of the raid leader, if someone is just wanting to run off to emain while everyone else stays for the lotto they're out ;)

7. The lotto begins when the raid ends. If you wish to start the lotto early - the raid will end anyway - so DO NOT START THE LOTTO until the raid leader is ready for it.

8. Any of these rules may be modified if stated before the raid, or if everyone participating in the lotto agrees.

Very true.
