I just cannot fathom some things in life.

Make sure your will states exactly who should get what down to the last detail and all your insurance policies too. Don't trust that even the closest relative will do the right thing with any money they end up with because you won't believe the vile things people will do. And you won't believe the ingenuity they have in making excuses for themselves.

No his brother died and I'm guessing some of his family have done some less than decent things to get whatever was available.

To be honest wij, it'd take quite a lot to surprise me when it comes to matters like this :\

Doesn't surprise me at all, at my young age experience has taught me that most people are stupid and most people are small minded selfish bastards.

At least you found out now Wij. People like that, I tend to leave them out of my life.

I've already told my parents I don't want their money. Told them to spend it all.

I've had this on both sides of the family after both my grandads died.

Been two years since my dad's dad died and the will is still in probate because of arguments between my aunts and uncles. And my dad has disowned them all.

On my busted laptop so excuse no capitals etc.

Some of you may know I got a bit of inheritence(sp) a few months ago. Everyone I told who I know online has been really happy for me and also my good friends have been happy for me.

guess where the shit came from regarding the money, damn straight, the family. i even had one prick gobshite of a cousin ring me up and ask if he was getting a drink from the money, this is the same prick who rang me up drunk one night threatening me (I dont scare easily and he didnt have the bottle to meet me when I drove for 5 hours to go the funeral), In all honesty I was planning on falling out with him so its maybe a good thing he decided to stay in the pub instead of going the funeral.

Family and money dont mix wij, it is simple though, cut these people from your life, concentrate on the people who support you. If a friend asked me for some money I would hand it over in a second.

Family can fuck off compared to good mates, life saving mates.

Chin up Wijlet, you got us here always.

Edited to say - im a bit drunk and a bit messed up mentally at the minute.

I'd happily do it but my mother's family are so taken in with her constant lying and playing for sympathy they'll vilify me and make my life hell if I say a bad word about her just after losing her son. If I actually rang them up and told them how she took £5000 a year off him so that she didn't have to pay any bills it would just look like I was begging my case. I'm stuck either rolling over and accepting the dirty tricks she's played or looking like a bastard. She's even deliberately pretending nothing is wrong on answerphone messages despite other people saying they are disgusted so that I would have to breach the subject and look like a ****. Let her keep it tbh. Just to have been offered some and I could have forgiven but she would never take the risk that I would accept.

I would discuss it with my Dad but he's out tonight. Sorry :( Getting drunk now :(

i'm so fucking glad i don't have to deal with any of this.

although, my nan had to leave her house and move into care last year and various "factions" are still arguing over the money.

money = the source of all problems

I think people are the source of problems tbh mank :(

Most people think money brings happiness. It may certainly make life easier, but life ain't worth living if you've got no family or friends.

Myself, when I die I plan to have the house and contents sold, a nice big muscle car bought, converted into a hearse with straight through pipes, one last trip around a few nice country lanes at high speed, followed by the tailgate being opened on a quayside and my coffin being shoved unceremoniously into the sea.

Any change would be left to a cats home, run by a slightly mad woman who smells of wee.

actually, money and religion - both of which are intrinsical to daily life for most people. so we're both right.

i like your idea. i'm going to leave all my money (which will probably amount to 37p in coppers) to some random person i barely know.

that mad woman smelling slightly of wee could well turn out to be me.

It is. Now I just have to persuade practically everyone in the world that I'm not a total **** for not wanting to speak to my Mum when she's already mourning the loss of her other son. I just love it when the phone rings :/

After the experinence my mum had with her dad's will my parents went about making lists of all the items they possess and the investments they have. They then gave a list to each child (we are 5) who had to tick what they wanted. Every item had a monetory value and where two children asked for the same thing my parents put their wishes next to it to indicate which child should get the item.

The value of the whole estate is totalled up and when my parents eventually pass away (not for many years i pray) every item we recieve is deducted from the total value. Any cash left will be split equally. They revalue items every 5 years or so and the estate will be revalued when both of them are dead.

This all sounds a bit cold but afte watching the heartache and anguish my mum went through after my grandfather died they prefer to do this for their own peace of mind and ours..

Im sorry Wij that this is happening to you like you havn't been through enough recently. *hugs*

Faith in humanity? The first words spoken to me on my very first day at school were "You've got big ears, haven't you?" - and it's all been downhill since then.

It's always puzzled me why it is that family are supposed to get a free pass to friendship and respect.

It's the old "Blood is thicker than water" routine, but having found things out about myself, i'm seriously questioning that ethic, what makes blood so much more important than the ties that bind friendship and love?

If anyone, friends or family, do something that hurts me or makes me stress then I cut them out, they get maybe a couple of chances then thats it. I haven't spoken to many of my family for about 12 years now, and tbh it has made me better in myself.

Mum and dads are harder to ignore but thats a different kettle of fish altogether, they are half and half of you.
