i'm at uni halls of residence and 0800's dont work. the price is similar to bt's (slightly cheaper) for 0845's but its still a pain in the arse. calls with a 192 prefix are fixed at 30p so if anyone knows a 192 isp post it here :)

actually thinking about it 192 is probably the operarator or the talking clock or something daft. if it is feel free to laugh at my stupidity :)

nah the halls are a fair bit off campus so i guess that makes it impossible. can use the computers in the libary or wherever at a quick speed but theres no hd space to dl and no cd drive :/ so no-one go to leicester if u want good net access.

Errr...

192 is directory enquiries... no other number starts with 192.

Try a surftime ISP, code is 0844.

Sone Uni halls contract out the internal Hall phone systems to non-BT companies, which often take dim views of calls to non-geographical numbers, esp 0800 ones (mostly for cost reasons).

Even if you do cough up for the cost (probably inevitable as the only Unis that havn't clamped down tight on internet gaming seem to be Oxbridge) of 0845, i doubt you'll get good service anyway, due to dodgy sound compression techniques.
