Having completed the game today I felt that the final boss was a little easy, and the game a little short. It also suffered from the same problem as vampire the masqurade, go in kill stuff advance the plot, not really anything different I loved the game at first but I found it got a little repetative after a while. And did anyone else think that the voice didn't match the face in the graphic novel, he was kinda stupid looking but with a gruff tough voice.
I put operation flashpoint on hold to finish this but I'll be back on it tomoro.

I dunno... I like the ending. Rather than a big boss to kill (she was a woman after all) you have to wade through loads of pretty tough mini-bosses. The game finishes in a great film stylee way and that satisfied me. Felt like I had actually achieved something.

I didn't think it was too short but I guess games with a linear story will always suffer from this critism. Once you've got to the end, what d'you do? Go back and play it again? (I am!)

The voice/face mismatch I do agree with. Particularly the shots of Max before his wife was killed. Very cheesy and cock-looking.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one playing Op Flash. Hope you've installed the patch! Looking forward to dedicated server support. Kill me some live ones (or summit.)

I got annoyed by the constant saving required just in case some bloke you can't even see shoots you in the head for instant death :/

... and ... read it!

All fair points. It would have added a huge amount of variety and life to the game if there had been a certain amount of randonmness thrown in with regard to the baddies locations.

I too thought the actually story was pretty shite but was prepared to excuse it because the overall game was so good.

Yes the game was good but not 4 years good ;)

Wij, you ought to try Dead On Arrival mode, only 7 saves per map, makes the overall game a lot more tense.

Plus, I thought the story was great. Sure it's not the greatest story ever told, but as games go it's pretty bloody good.

edit: Embattle, just read your column. Although there are some fair points, I think you're too hard on it. Sure it's not a long game, but I don't think it's supposed to be. It's fucking fun the whole way through the first time, a bit less fun the second, and a smidgen less the 3rd (DOA mode with a max of 7 saves makes it interesting). Anyway, I think you were too hard on it really. If you look at it for what it is, a short game that's bloody fun and has an above average story line as games go, then you'll prolly appreciate it more.

still, 4 years was a bloody long time for it......

TBH Nath its the same all the way through but it should of been a lot more for the four years it took to make and the things I point out are almost all basic problems with the game, suck as shit faces etc.

Its no Multiplayer that really kills it for me.

I actually think Multiplayer would kill the game. There's plenty of good shooting multiplayer games, but I think it's good they decided against it

besides, bullet time wouldnt work, would it

Bullet time I found a little bit tacky in the end :D

Yes, shoot dodge gets a little old, but standard slow mo is ace.

I think the bullet time, although an excellent idea wasn't all it was cracked up to be. What pissed me off the most about it was that you never got enough bullet time, even when the gauge was full it didn't last very long, I know it would have made it too easy but it would have been so much fun to take out a room of bad guys. And was it just me or did you find yourself wasting ammo so you didn't have to look at a colt commando lying wasted on the floor. And also did anyone else think that both shotguns sucked. I stuck with duel berretas/ ingrams and the colt comando.

sawn off is shit, but the single barrel is very good if you aim for the head.

I quite like the sawn-off, it's fun and it has some uses :)

then you get the jackhammer and never look back?

The sawn-off is great against 1 guy, shoot dodge straight towards him and fire twice - easy-peasy;)

is there less ammo in the harder modes of gameplay?

W

Yeah, it is a bitch to reload, but that's why I only use it when I know there's only 1 bad guy - if I can't hit him with 2 shotgun blasts in slow motion, I deserve to die.

I prefer rate of fire to one powerful blast, the duel berettas did it for me.

Wij

Yeh, but once you've completed it you wanna play it for fun rather than just to get thru it again. Using sawn off shotty makes it fun somehow :)
