Well here goes...

Just watched auf wiedersien pet and i was just about to go to bed as i have to be up for work at 4:30 on a monday and the phone rang. It was my mother me old fella had just fell down the stairs and they thoght he had broke his knee. So, i went round and yeh it looked like he had we phoned a ambulance while my gf looked after him as she is in the nhs qualified as a Ocuppational Therapist. So we got the hospital at 10:45 and waited to be seen 12:30 we was seen then .. My mother took a turn and stated to be sick and went all faint so i had to get her seen to. She calmed down as they say it was just shock of the situation.
It turns out what my dad has done is fallen from the 3rd step from the bottom and landed on his knee which the impact has pushed heis knee cap up onto his thighbone were it is resting t the moment BUT the knee cap has torn all his ligaments so he needs surgery. I eventually got home at 4:20 this morning went to bed for 20 minutes got up went to work for 20 minutes to tell them the story as my dad works at the same place as me and then went homeback to bed. And now im uo again as ill be off to the hospital later again. Thing is he has just had both his hips replaced about 2 year ago, and know hes fuckin his knees up poor old beggar he always seems to be in the wars. Anyways just though id share my night with you and sorry yabbating on Laters.

No sorry needed, m8! Rant all you need - it's good to talk, well type.

You have my sympathy & best wishes, I went through something similar when me Mum took a tumble down the last few stairs & broke her ankle - took months to heal & was even scarier shit for me as I was working away at the time.

The very best of good luck & treatment to you and all yours, let us know how it goes.

Result going out with a nurse!;)

Well im off back to the hospital soon so ill let yeh know the outcome.

Tnx for the words guys. And as for the nurses hell be loving it i tell yeh !;)

I sympathise fully. Last year my Dad had a heart attack. On top of that my mum was in the same hospital with Cancer....Talk about stressfull.

Anyway my Dads attack turned out to be relatively mild one and was linked to Diabetes for which he's now receiving treatment and my Mums was responsive to Tamoxifen (Oestrogen blocker) so things are better now.

My old man had a hip replacement late last year although he decided it was a good idea to go and win the Welsh Indoor Rowing championship 3 months later.

The doctor didn't share his view.


I hope your old man gets better soon because, speaking from experience, there's nothing worse than an old bugger who cant move about under his own power.

Well he is waitibg on surgery now for the Ruptured ligaments which they now tell us and to rplace the knee cap back to were its meant to be. They say he will be in a cast for 6 weeks then need physio. So in total there talking 2 months or so. :(
And all the old git can worry about is work . But he is chuffed that he will be at home for the world cup and i wont , and he keeps reminding me off it :D

Anyway tnx for the comments guys ill pass em on ;)

my schedule for a broken limb


1) break arm at 12:15
2) report hurt arm to sick room 13:45
3) be inspected by techer 14:00
4) call for parents 14:10
5) parents arrive 14:56 (10 min drive ffs)
6) arrive wrexham AnE 15:15
7) inspected by doctor 15:45
8) admitted to ward 18:12
9) be told surgery will be at 21:00
10) 21:00. told delayed till 23:00
11) 23:00. told wont be operated on till next day
12) replace sling with tight bandage 23:35
13) 00:12. woken up taken to surgery
14) 01:10. wake up. go back to ward

My gramps once fell down the stairs and came off with nothing...he tried to demonstrate it to my gran and promptly broke his arm.
