That includes the R&D costs, subsequent buses after that will be much cheaper. ( ~200-300k each ).

I never stated otherwise bud, was just commenting on the comments left at the bottom of the article. How could I have an informed opinion when the journalist left out those details?

I like it, retro modernism.
All this talk of how there isn't any more seats etc, this country needs
confidence in itself, not saving pennies here and there!
Next they need to replace all that unimaginative street furniture, galvinised posts and barriers,
Totally depressing and makes the masses fell that if they don't give a shit, not do we!
I mean really the councils idea round our way for putting a bit of design into a lamp is welding on a bent tube at the top, when you compare it to the glory and pride of the Victorians it makes me puke.

The Bendy buses were only ever a trial. They were never going to go more routes than they do now

The old manufacturers stopped making parts for the old routemasters and they were from the 70s far too old to keep maintaining

A door at the back can be left open when there’s a conductor, allowing passengers to hop on and off in a carefree manner

So this is an UK thingy then,sounds pretty risky to have open door while driving to me atleast.

In london, esepecially around the routemaster routes, the buses dont go faster than 15/20 mph and people dont jump off or on really when its moving more at lights etc
