Logon errors

A m8 cannot logon today. He got a 2 MB download as a patch and when he gets to game start screen it jumps to the ld message (hit escape to leave game).

Any ideas on a fix?

Has he got a firewall that needs to be told that individual programs can access the net (such as ZoneAlarm) ?

If so, it could be that the old game.dll has permission, but the new one hasn't yet.

Got this problem on my gf computer.
I can log on to my account and hers on my comp.
She can not log on any account on her comp, so not a ghosting prob and firewall is sorted so not that.
Last night she could log on to my account but not hers from her comp.
Odd.
Any ideas?
