Logitech Wheelmouse optical problem

My game of QW is just being destroyed by an annoying little problem that my Logitech wheelmouse optical has, I was wondering if anybody else suffers similar inappropriate artifacts from it.

The problem:

I have perfect tracking in every direction, left, right, up, down, up + right, down + right, down + left.

But, up + left just completely messes up, mouse pauses and stutters, completely screws my game up, since thats my rocket jumping angle (i'm right handed ). Another thing, its occurance is completely irregular, sometimes it works fine but others it doesn't. Nag dammit!

I'm completely lost to why this is, so please, if you have this mouse can you test it qucikly in windows!

I'm thinking it *could* be a software problem, but i highly doubt it :\ i'll test it on another machine :\

Uninstall the logitech drivers and use standard M$ ones.

et voila problem fixed.

oh ass.

I've just tried paper instead of my usual surface, a nice black (could be a problem?) ratpad :\

it doesn't suffer the same problem from what i've just tried, tracks much better than the ratpad, but it feels sluggish (could be the texture of the paper) whereas the the ratpad makes it feel like the mouse is hovering on a cushion of air, which is lovely.

i know someone with exactly the same setup as me, i'll ask him when he comes onto irc. blast.

I have exactly the same setup - Logitech optical wheelmouse and black ratpad, and I have no problems. Try the newest drivers, use PS2, and set the sample rate in properties to 80. Should work fine...

/EDIT white surfaces are supposed to be worst for optical mice END EDIT/
