Logitech MX700 Optical cordless Mouse

I bought one of these sweet babies the other day. 800 DPI's. Rechargable base unit, the works basically. It fits your hand like a glove. The comfiest mouse I have worked with.

Now for the bad news. Its gash. Friggin awfull to be honest. When you get the manual it says that it has to be a certain distance from all other electrical items. No good if you have it anywhere near your base unit, monitor printer etc. The mouse just drifts all over the screen. Its like the fcuker is possesed

I was Playing Desert Combat the other night and I ended up shooting myself in the foot more than I did any Iraqi sodier. Grrrrrrrr :flame: :flame: :flame:

Anybody else had one of these or any experiece of them ? I have tried switching and that is no good. It is impractical to start moving other hardware due to space considerations. It is so annoying as this is supposed to be the best of the best in terms of mice. Seriously considering getting the old Microsoft optical cordless out of hibernation

I recently got the mouse I mention here and it works fine. I'm not convinced it's as good as my wired MS optical but it is funky that I don't have the drag of a wire stucking out of it any more.

Only cos me 15 quid but I've seen them for a tenner on e-buyer. Although I'm not sure if it'd compare with a MS cordless.

Haven't used one to any great extent, but yours is the first report I've had of it that has been anything short of sparkling. For example, I know (ShoveL) swears by his.

I've had one for just over 6 months now and I've had nothing but joy with it. Base unit is fine 6" away from the monitor. In fact, I just finished a very healthy review of it for TechNation.

Try telling it to use Channel 1 instead, just press the Connect buttons again and see if that helps.

I must say though, I've found it exceptional. There are a few other threads in this very forum about the MX700 too, you might to read through them to see if that sheds any light on your problems.

I've got the same mouse. I read that in the manual too, but I've got the base unit sitting crammed between two monitors and it is fine. Sounds like something is up with yours.

One problem with interference I did have was solved by move the reciever about a foot closer to where the mouse sits. However, this actually moved it *closer* to the monitor, so I'm not sure that I can relate.

There are a couple:

There may well be an MX700 as part of a wireless bundle, but there is also the new MX900, which is esentially the same but uses Bluetooth rather than Logitech's patent RF Wireless technology. That is the dark coloured one with the keyboard.

I seem to remember that Microsoft's Bluetooth offering was around £120 on release, not sure whether Logitech have pushed the price down at all though. I also have no idea what BT is like performance wise, seeing as they are fairly new.
To my knowledge, the Logitech version does at least adhere to the standard Bluetooth stack, whereas Microsoft customised the protocol (like they do).

Actually, the protocol for the devices was untouched, they aren't allowed to use the Bluetooth SIG logo on their products if they faff with it.

So keyboard and mouse support the correct HIDClass BT profiles necessary, however Windows XP Bluetooth stack - which is currently only available with these products, supports a limited number of profiles, more than most, but there's nothing non-standard about it.
