Hey chaps,

The other day while i was playing, i changed zones (in campa forest, if u must know) when approaching Caer Ulfwich. When i did this, i got the usual 2 second pause while the mouse ran on its wheel and USUALLY it just carries on and i run inside and do my thang, but that time it just sat there, the mouses wheel squeaking quietly in the backround.

So, i pressed the ol windows key, terminated the DAoC client and tried to re-enter after the usualy 30 sec wait.

ALAS! It was not to be, first of all, the box that comes up when u load the client initially just sat there saying connecting to update server, i terminated it again and tried over, with the same result.

It went nowhere for ages and while i was reading these very boards the opening graphic came up and then the password promt came up. Yay, i thought, at last.

So i whacked the ol p'word in and it started to load up, after i had selected my server it continued as normal to the fullscreen graphic with the status messages at the bottom, it got to the "Connected to service.." part and then sat there, squeaking to itself.

Again, i left it to itself and then after about 15 minutes it decided it wanted to let me in, and it did, and i placed for anm hour or two with no problems (well i say that, but who here doesnt get lag spikes, and general crap every 15 mins?). Then the same thing happened, this time when porting out of DF, so i tried to log back in and all the same crazy stuff happened, and it took me a good 25 minutes to log in!!!

Next day, it was fine. So i think "mumble grumble, bloody GOA.." and carry on merrily.

But today the same thing happenedand and im wondering if any of you lavly guys out there know wtf is going on!!!

For all of you that will ask:

Windows XP PRO
1.1Ghz T'bird
512MB DRAM
huge HDD (IDE)
Crappy old gfx card that just about functions from NVidia

and i play on Albion, Excalibur

Thanks in advance,

Dont know if this helps but have you tried running a full file check ??? you know on the patch server .

Reason I ask is when I used winXP my computer would kick me out of DAOC about every other day...My computer would then say I had errors on my hard drive and fix em.....Then when I try to log back in Nothing ..zip nadda .......so ?I'de do a file check on DAOC and sure enough it would replace 6 or 7 files and work......well once I had to do full reinstall......Anyway this problem went away when I switched back to Win2K.

that probably doesnt help you but..just thought ide mention it.

Also, if you get the problem connecting to the patch server it might be lag/bad route... run a traceroute to see if you're getting lagged to the server (I'm sure there's a post around here that says how to do it and what IPs to use :))

Logging in Which is more Gimped Excal or Gorre?

I am having and have had for near enough a week, problems logging onto Excalibur, yesterday i could not log on at all.

Soo after going through my drivers from GPU to modem, recreating diallers, traceroutes etc i decided to try loggin onto Gorre from a backup copy of Daoc on the same HD as the one i normally use, edited the update.patch file accordingly with the following;

Mythic Patch
patch.camelot-europe.com:1280/updates/TestFR/camelot/mpatch.dat

The installer gets updated but after restarting it i still have the same problem, guess ill pop a note into Rightnow and see what the reply is.

<edit the patcher is responding but is incredibly slow, moreso than any traceroute points out>
