Heya all....Ebenezer here from exc/hib..
Just wanted to say hi, first time in here.
Then i wanted to ask everyone why the daoc ages of old is getting downhill so fast...
I played the game for almost 2 years now, and think the game has become a mere shadow of its old self.
Im not sure if its me that changed so much since first playing or its the surrounding enviroment actually.
But when i started playing it was all about exploring, roleplaying some, helping out and having a good chatt with friends, and leveling ur alt and thrill in seeing him becoming great.
I know alot of people have the same thoughts as me, just want to hear some good explonation of whats happening. Now its become like the reall world, all about cash money and bickering over pathetic things that dont really matters. And that ongoin competion over who is the best in all aspects of the game, OMG lighten up peeps, i dont think that is what they had in mind when they created the game. But hey.....that is what happened with the reall world too Whoever created the human world cant be especially happy about the outlook nowadays. But at least then in a game were u are suppose to have a great time with friends, is that to much to ask for....

Imo I think the game is almost at it's peak atm. Eagerly awaiting Frontiers to polish it of. What I belive is goin downhill is the peeps playing. Too much greed and wtfpwnj00ass attitude. Wasn't at all that when I started out imo. :| But then again we're talkin about humans.

The main problem is probably the way Mythic in their zeal to make the game full of 'epic encounters' both in RvR and PvE have made the high-end level of things dominated by tank classes. As such naturally lots of people look at tanks to determine the 'best' one there is, and as such Hybrid tanks w/o some kind of indispensable group ability become undesirable - due to both their lack of certain RAs (Determination being the most obvious) and because they cannot deal as much damage/defend as well as a pure tank can.

Most of this is actually player attitude rather than anything else, and could in an indirect manner be blamed on 'power gamers' on whom lots of people want to try and emulate - adopting their group setups and stuff like that.

Whether TOA is going to change that I don't know yet (as far as I know most of the Caster TOA whines were about PBAE casters, which are just 1 type of many casters). Its just one of the things we'll have to wait and see about. I wouldn't put the problem down to buff bots however, as they seem to have nullified themselves these days as every man and his dog seems to have one (I myself am guilty of getting one at the same time I got TOA)

As for frontiers, I honestly don't think it will do that much good to the underlying problems. People have already levelled their Savages and their Berserkers - even with new RA systems the basic fundamentals of the class won't change dramatically enough to warrant large scale change in the 'gank group' setups (I.E - having new RA's won't change the fact that Savages can frontload lots of damage fast).


Still, I live in hope that something gets done about it. Though I think the answer lies more in the DAoC community rather than with Mythic.

Just look at me, I'm what most people would call a gimp. I cba gettin' artifacts because of all the time needed to get one and then to farm for scrolls. So I'm going for normal sc'ed gear that caps everything and I'm perfectly happy with that. I'll probably get wtfpwned by someone with level 10 battler and harpy cloak, disarming me and giving me a 17 AB debuff. Still I'm havin' fun runnin' around with friends and we're like WOOT WE GIMPS JUST KILLED RR10. Or omg the RR8 BM wtfpwned us again. But also OMIGOD WE LOOK GOOD IN BLACK OOO YESH!

Tbh, if you cba getting a level 10 battler and harpy cloak you deserve to wtfpwn me But more nerfs would be nice though Because soon everybody will probably have them just as everybody has level 50s now.

well..its is nice to see some people have the right atitude at least
I guess it depends to what kind of character u play....i have my epic armor with my bard ebenezer and my job would normally be run fast and get a good mez in...then in close combat against a tank i will loose all the time anyhow....so he works perfectly for me at least....but i can really imagine the frusrtation u feel as a tank if u get swatted every time by other tanks. But then again there is no shame in taking out some chanters just for the fun of it...hehe
