What you think ? those of you who are currently playing the BETA ..

Looks like it could be a great game when its released, although there are quite alot of downsides.

i like the idea of pk, reminds me alot of uo, but im yet to see or hear of any higher level battles ... just see the odd lvl 5 Pk'er running around...

also what server are u on ? and will you be buying the game ?
dunno if theres alot of eu players ... have only met americans so far.

Lvl 7 mage on Lionna. I think i play on Lionna :p

Called Tasllehoff :]
Not sure if i'm gonna buy the game though. I don't really like much of the community. But when you take initiative in the lower lvl's its mostly nice players that join you =)

Not worth paying money for, but its a fun change of pace to DAoC :) (though you get the feeling it needs a PG13 slapped on it with regard to some of the playable races  )

Worst grind ive encountered yet in a mmorpg, and also the worst playerbase. Was fun trying something "new" for a couple of days but then i got tired of it. It is probably better at high levels with sieges etc.

L2 makes daoc grid look like a walk to the park.

Bored the shit out of me after 2 weeks.
I can see a lovely castle seige in L2, fps down to -10.

actually, i've heard the exactly opposite and from the movies i've seen they appear to be very fast framerate wise.

May I suggest that perhaps new games seem to have a huge grind compared to DAoC because you're all in crappy equipment (or no equipment) whereas if you roll an alt in DAoC these days, you just transfer a few gold or whatever to them and it's easy going?

buffs are timed as well and the duration is pretty short (i'd say 15-20 minutes). so i don't think we'll be seeing buffbots in L2 as they are in daoc.

and that's not the only thing speaking for L2 imo. they got tons of cool shit in there.

The buffs are kinda spread among the classes, if you would want to have all buffs you would need about 6 buffbots, and since the buffbot is about 8 times more useful when played you might aswell just find another player instead :p

however... you could have a lowbie healbot....

Twinking is totally uber in lineage2, once you get a char to high level and have a good amount of cash you can make new chars incredibly fast.

In the dragon video some threads down, the landscape and players looked incredibly... unvaried. Is that just a crap video, or is the game like that throughout? One thing DAoC does best is the huge difference in terrain (except in hib :( ) and the sweeping plains, rolling green hills and snowy mountains really add something to the game. As for the characters... well it's possible for every single character to look different on DAoC (including equipment) although admittedly not very likely with the advent of artifacts.

The lineage landscape is a lot better than the daoc one at least, at least that's what I think.

There's still stuff to be implemented when it comes to character customization, like cloaks, who aren't in the game yet, but the slot for them in the inventory already exist. (They will be put in the coming patch called Chronicle 1, which we get when Lineage2 goes retail) All armors are different, but there's no "random" drops. For each price range there's 1 piece of armor to get. Everyone who's lv1 will have the same armor usually and everyone who's lv 15-20 has the same armor mostly. But each half year a big patch (new land, items, etc) is released and stuff like this will be added. It's still a beta.

And yes, Lineage2 is not an item finding game, you basically buy all your items from players/shops, and anything you find makes you a very lucky guy and adds a big sum of cash to your ingame pocket. :p It's just exp and gold/materials, finding an item is like winning the lottery.

Buffy the Buffbotslayer was suggested on VN.
AFK buffbot, log in Buffy, slay buffbot, logoff!

Oooo - a seventh server. Don't know whether it is east coast though.

Hi Vlad,

Make sure you have a download tool. GetRight will download it for you - Gozilla and another I have wouldn't.
GetRight will get you connected to the servers and will download it. You will be able to set it to downloading at least 5 threads.

How long will it take? Once it starts it will be pretty fast providing you are not bandwidth limited. Equal download type policies play havoc with large downloads of course.

An alternative is just to download the client and then let the game patch itself. This works if you have a CD key. Is it quicker if you have a key? I doubt it but it is an option.

How long will it take to get a key? Could be instant, could take a while - they say it shouldn't take longer than a week (which would be bad). Due to the demand NCSoft slowed down the release of keys - and its still out there. And as you have noticed the servers (there were 3 when I downloaded it and the max users per server had been increased to 800 from 500) are still very busy.

7 servers now - all busy so 35k accounts at the moment. NCSoft are proving good at getting new servers up though - east coast servers to come soon thet have said. 12 days to go until pay to play but it certainly looks like its going to be popular. Lots of 'more impressed than I thought' posts. And those that don't of course have left.

Edit: server 8 has been rolled out as I was writing the post.

I've downloaded GetRight, its working fine and i've inputted the URL to download from, but its giving messages saying, "Server too busy, retrying in xx". That's a problem at their end not mine, right? :eek7:

Edit: How do i download the client?. As it seems to be one of the few viable options i have currently :(

you have to create a new account, but you'll be sorted and you actually get the download straight away  . 7 hours to go :m00:

Played Lineage 2 for a bit, got to lvl 11, seems lvling is quicker than DAoC was when i started in open beta january 2002 but levelling seems bland, especially with a mage, 3 spells or so and only 2 classes pretty much available til 20.

Might get better after its released but with all the server crashes, login problems and boringness (imo) ive decided not to bother buying it or even continuing til end of beta.
