I play a light ench atm and miss aoe. Of course summoned pet and dps debuffs are nice.
But 45 light and rest in mana sounds like an ok spec for some aoe interrupts that chanter lacks. And a good spec nuke/aoe nuke for debuff assist nuking.
Was what I was thinking.

dunno why people still think light menta's DD is better (ie faster/harder) than any of the other spec nuker DDs. All hib spec nukers (except animist) have a lvl 45 delve dd (209.7 dmg / 2.8 spd) of which menta and chanter one are heat and eld one is cold dmg. Most likely eld one will hit hardest on non-debuffed targets since heat resists are usually maxed in alb/mid. Additionally cold resist buff is higher than heat one and chances are better the enemy group has lower cold resists from buffs than heat resists.
Personally I think that DD caster groups are far more powerful now than pbaoe based ones and that's why a Mentalist is a good addition to a group atm. Mentas can assist on mana chanter heat debuffs, have demez and confuse (theurg pets), one of the most powerful yet underrated RAs in the game (Severing the Tether) and a nice ML line to choose from: Warlord. Light eld on the other hand has great utility: highest aoe dex/qui debuff, red nearsight, single str and dex debuffs, low aoe str/con debuff and aoe mez as backup mezzer and even aoe disease if necessary.
Perfect hib group for me atm is bard, 2 druid, warden, mana chanter, light menta, light eld, hero/BM. Of course this group would do less well against tank heavy groups but there hardly are any of those left.
Animists could be nice instead of light menta. Animists got the highest delve dd (if you consider bombers DDs) in the whole game and a lifetap which can be synchronised with the bombers. If the animist is not interrupted and times bombers with lifetaps the dmg will be unhealable. Like Mentas animists dont have utility but the lvl 50 shrooms might come in handy in some situations.
In NF (in case there will still be fg vs fg battles left) I am not sure about mentas: They get the Static Tempest RA which seems nice at first glance but I really doubt its usefulness for non-pbaoe groups. On the other hand they lose STT which is now one of the main reasons to have a menta in group (for me at least).

we talking pvp or pve here? ive been wanting 2 lvl a light menta for a bit (was messing about with mine yesterday) and so far in pve they seem 2 rock 
specially if u get a buffed pet or even just there nukes r ownage. tbh i can c a huge advantage for them in rvr in that THEY CAN GET COOL LOOKING PETS! tbh from what ive seen light ment seems 2 b the up and coming fotm. alot of ments that ive talked 2 have said they r respecing 2 light at 40, or r lvling as a light ment so the only question i have, is which is better 2 lvl with? considering both alot of solo and sum grp play

I also got a light menta for pve mainly (48 light, 24 mana) and almost rr4
Light ment with mana as secondary spec (mr and hot) is by far the best solo PvE char in hib. A buffed salamnder can easily tank 3 not-too-purple mobs and the mentalist can heal it with HoTs without having to bother about getting aggro. I would go as far as to say light menta is the best PvE char across all realms if you want to solo kill high lvl mobs (purps).
for RvR you should spec 46 light, 28 mentalism ofc

i guess he's meaning: charm a pet, ops mezzed, charm on pets stops, hits caster, QC charm, ta-da. or something similar.

- your demezzed and next charm-pulse will recharm pet immediat.

releasing your pet doesnt "release" it from charm, it just does for that pulse.

A mentalist can do 700+dmg but what more? Cure mezz....
A eld can use nearsight, debuffs, disiase, and DDs..

everysingle thing i just said has helped me to win a fight at various times people really do underestimate how good a skilled mentalist is more times than than not someone up against a mentalist is dead before they come out of stun and if they dont well bugger it land a dot and leg it. or cast mez and leg it ofc there not as good in someways as a chanter or eld probably in the more important areas but they surpass them in alot of others.
