Light laptop

I'm looking for a new laptop to do work on the train, but struggling to find something suitable. Here what I need -

  • Needs to be light - pref. sub notebook size
  • Under £2000 (excluding VAT - its a business purchase :))
  • 512mb or greater RAM
  • Don't really care what processor/HD/anything else

I've looked around Sony's offerings - but none are expandable to 512mb. Anyone got any pointers?

Cheers!

Jas I thought you had a dell desktop surely your not going to abandon them when it comes to laptops!

The Insp 4100 is 2.5kg but unless you've got arms devoid of any mussle you will barely notice it. I 'lugged' around my Insp 8100 all 6kg of it for several hours at the airport wasn't really a problem

Or you could wait and get one of them Tablet PC's when they come out :)

The first version of Tablet PCs are likely to be problematic.

I do have a Dell desktop - and I had a Dell laptop, but I'm just exploring the options.

I have a friend with one of those ThinkPads (with the docking station) - I'll check them out.

Ive got a Dell Latitude L400. Its very thin and quite light considering its got a metal case.

Its a year or so old now, and I believe the new one is quite a bit lighter.

Review

Only 256 ram, but upgradable.
