Yeah just heard about this on Radio 5, i think the reason so many people are surprised is cos it's not football for once. It wont if you set your PC up to the right region... Fiddle around in options on Word and/or in the control panel and it will have somewhere Language "English(US)" and "English(UK)" or something similar. If you set it up you wont get that issue anymore, it also works with other americanism's such as Z'd in words where we use S's etc.

Yeah I know what you mean. I find him a tad irritating too. But he's not the first black sports personality to get abuse, and won't be the last. I'm not condoning it - its bang out of order.

Say it when it happens in football, and will say it again now. Spainish are some of the most racist europeans there are. They are totally intolerant towards black people especially, and in some areas they refuse to even talk to black people. If there is a black person and a white person together they will only speak to the white person of the couple.

As they should do in football they need to take big steps to show the Spanish people that racism is not to be tolerated by organisations that run events in their country. If they want the event then they should not allow this to happen.
So with this in mind the FIA in this instance should hit them with about £100k+ fine and set a precedent. Along with this fine (income will easily cover this mind you but it still a dent in the pocket) a warning should be issued that if in the next 5 years there is another instance then there will be no Grand Prix held in that country for 3years.

Action like this will get the hosts to take action swiftly to cut it out as they know they be set to lose millions, and the spanish people who are massive fans of Alonso and F1 wont get to see any races in their home country.

Same view with football, and if it comes to domestic teams in european matches they should be threatened with expulsion and bans from the competitions.

I think someone needs to look up Racist in the dictionary. As I have said in the past, I don't care what colour people are so long as they are productive (assuming they are capable)

Its not just a Spanish problem. Just go to any football ground in the Uk and listen . Its embarrassing. I have a mixed race g/f and i can`t take her to matches for fear of some council estate clown coming out with some paki this or black that comment aimed at a club or footballer.That and the shit team i follow

The problem with stuff like this is it's almost impossible to actually come up with a punishment that effects the people doing the abusing, without effecting all the innocent people who condone the actions.

And since the people doing the abusing therefore arn't effected directly, there's no inscentive for them to stop doing it.

Removing races from Spain for a year or two would probably get the message through, but there's way too much money involved for that to happen over something so trivial. (I'm not saying racisism is trivial, more that no-one is going to want to lose millions of pounds to punish a few idiots.)
