Does anybody know for definite if the /level command takes you directly to level 20, or can you decide how far to take it, eg. level 19 (instant BG0 character)?

If you use /level and stay at 19, you still wont be able to get into BG0 because the game checks the total exp that you have...

[hypothesis] Basically, every time you gain exp, the game checks to see if you're above the net (total) exp limit for your level. If you are, it bumps you up one level. The first time you use /level, you immediately recieve the total exp required to reach level 20, and every time you use it thereafter, you gain 1 exp (or something equally tiny) so that you don't visibly gain anything in the level you're at. When you try and get into a BG, the game checks your exp total as well, when trying to work out where you're supposed to go - rather than your level. [/hypothesis]

At least, thats the way I THINK it works, from what ive read on VN and in grab bags etc. This would mean that after using the command once though, you could run around and gank 18 green mobs, and end up level 20... whether that's the case or not, I don't know.

If you read the first line then you get what I was trying to say. The rest is optional.

Once the flag is set, you can enter the game as a brand-new first level character with zero experience points. You must target your trainer and use the /LEVEL command to grant your player experience. You'll start with at least enough experience to raise to 20th level (30 on some Realms on some servers). You must go to your trainer and right click on him to gain levels.

Note that any existing character who is below the experience being granted can use the /level command. Use of this command will grant experience to reach level 20.5 or level 30.5

Taken direct from the patchnotes

Just to be sure, I made myself a level 17 character with /level and got on the pad with a BG necklace.
I didn't get ported, so it looks like they're actually checking your exp, not your level.

PS: killing 3 grey con mobs got me to level 20 ;)

The equation may be right, but you'd still be level 1 :)

How it works is you select the trainer, type /level, then right click your current trainer 19 times (so first 4 times, find your profession's trainer, join the order and then another 15 times)

_IF_ an english server gets it, it will be Pryd/Hib. But most likely none in europe will get /level 30.

actually you're all wrong ;)

you start off with the lvl 1, take it to your future trainer (paladin/armsman/etc), type /level 20, you instantly level to level 5 with 10 bubs.

Right click on the trainer to become that class.

Then once you become that class, watch the fireworks as you're instantly lvl 20 :)

why not just do a /level 50 while you're at it.. then we can have a larger alb zerg to farm.

As wildfire said you _will_ ding each time you kill at green mob if u have used the /level command and its true its impossible to get in bg0 with /level chars.

But i have been wondering if you have a lvl 15 before /level comes and you take that to 19 with /level you will be alble to be there.. mabey :)

No because when you did /level you would then have enough XP to be lvl 20.5 (or 30.5). The code checks your xp when you port to the BG not your level.

u dont need to type level 19 times
its either /level 20 or /level 30

then everytime u click on you trainer or kill a mob that is not grey con to you, u lvl up.
