Lessons from the relic attempt

Nice try lastnight, and well done to Niljindil for trying to organise the motley crew :)

We gotta learn a few lessons from each attempt though...

Most important I think is speed. We were just way too slow. 2 hours to get from the PK to the relic keep, by which time of course we had an army waiting for us, and we'd lost 2/3rd of our force by then too including the majority of the ram people. Next time we've got to just move. Move move move. People who get killed by mobs on the way are nessecary casualties I think... if we maybe use speed buffs/songs, ignore all mobs if possible, abandon stragglers (harsh but nessecary I think) and just keep moving we'll get there in a quarter of the time. And let's be honest, people who can't use /stick, people who get killed by low-level mobs and people who don't bother to do things like stare at the floor and zoom in to reduce their lag if it's too bad for them aren't a great loss to the raiding party.

Discipline is the other thing that's got to take precedence. When the raid organiser says "Stick to me or your group leader NOW" then people who don't do it really just need to be ignored and left behind. There's always going to be people who come out with moronic shit like "I don't take orders!" - they don't even deserve a single response, just straight onto /ignore and get on with the business at hand.

Lastnight was a good attempt, but the delays and slowness were what killed it in my opinion. I'm looking forward to the next attempt though :)

also i think leaving stragglers/dead behind is a mistake . if u rush through penines im sure your force will shrink a LOT with the amount of high lvl aggro mobs . hence why u seem to fail at excal raid u always seem to say that u lost your siege team to mobs or 1/2 force died crossing pennines . 2 hrs to cross pennines o_O with my scout "lvl 23" i can cross penines stealthing all the way goin around all the bad mobs and still get to hadrians in 20-30 mins tops . maybe u need to find fastest route to excal and not get lost . a lot of hibs got killed cos they were in wrong area from main army we killed a few hibs at excal about 5-10 mins before main force got here :p non sniper chars also which could only mean there was a main force inc. hence red alert = all albs drop what they doin to come to defend. was a good stand of though on the hills . we knew all we had to do was be patient for uber guard spawn and then rush you ..

Being my first forary into Albion, I did notice a big difference in the number of aggro mobs on the way compared to a run through the hib frontier. Certainly a bit harder than a run to our forts I suspect.

In order for everyone to have speed some discipline is needed to ensure a bard in each group or else people will get left behind.

Being one of the stragglers (I decided to help a groupmate being attacked then got lost), I am of two minds over leaving stragglers. Yes, it is harsh out there and there are some aggro highish level mobs but if you do leave a lot of your force dead and also the ones carrying seige weapon parts then it makes the raid much harder.

Having read a post on another thread on this board (the RvR one I think) the amount of lag generated means that you don't really need stealth to detect a raid.

Grats to Niljindil for organising it and taking the lead, to do this needs someone like that.

The spirits of Rome were aggro to me anyway but my standing has lowered somewhat now after killing a few (nice touch Mythic btw having ghostly legionares in an area called Hadrian's Wall - are they the lost Ninth Legion?).

All in all good fun even when i got battered by a Man at Arms.

Thanks to Odon the Firbie for going moose and saving mine and Cutricentas's arses when we were lost.

there are 2 relics in alb one is owned by the mids wouldnt it be easier to take that one as the mids would take about half an hour to get there to defend it, just an idea but i dont know anything so dont lisen to me :)

Relic forts are not like ordinary forts - they can't be taken over. Instead you have to get in, take the relic, and then bring it back to your own appropriate relic fort in your own realm.

A strength relic can only be stored in the strength relic fort and likewise with the power relic. Therefore there is currently only one fort that mids and albs need to defend at the minute.

Likewise there is only one fort that they could each attack in hib, because eg. a realm needs to own it's own strength relic before it can take another realm's.

One thing you should know about Alb... Factions mean very little compaired to Hib. Most of the mobs are aggro anyway so no one bothers with factions (except a couple to stop merchants going aggro). I wouldn't worry about your standing with the legionnaires ;)

I'm not sure which relics were taken by which realm, but supposing Midgard have Albion's strength relic ... does this mean that if Hib were to go for Midgard's strength relic, we could pick up Albion's at the same time? (In theory only ... doubt we have the ability to get any relics just yet).

you can only have 1 relic in "transit" at a time, so we'd need to hold the relic keep until it got dropped off at one of our keeps OR assault the relic keep again, highly unlikely seeing as we're having so much bother getting it for the first time hehe

BTW atm alb has the strength relics and mid the power.
