can faction with legion still be altered , in positive way that is?

there was a story about some albs on a US server that lvled stealthers to 50 without killing in DF and then slaugher merchants till they had good faction with the rest of DF.
They then proceded to cause havoc by whiping out mids and hibs on prince raids ect ... cant find the link atm but they patched it so that trick doesnt work anymore

Killing the merchant no longer effects the demon faction, found this out from abusing a heap of hib merchants. So as above "no"
