Leeching

how do people stand on leeching in this game?

i've just been killing some creatures and some guy likes to send his pet to the monsters i'm killing, of course greatly reducing me xp. Is this normal,, should I be thanking the guy?


not naming any names yet cos I might be in the wrong,, but i've found a new camp and enjoying myself kiling and harvesting the bodies mwuhaha

My personal opinion is you shouldn't help random strangers unless they shout help or look like they wanna shout help but are too busy running for their lives.

As far as I can tell (and I am new to the game, so don't quote me) you only get XP for the damage you do to a mob - so in the case you gave as an example, you'll still get the same xp for the shots you fired as you would if the persons pet hadn't interfered, but you'll use less shots because the pet will be causing damage and killing the mob faster.

I'm also not sure whether the pet owner will get any xp. I know I don't when my pet rock beetle attacks things. Unless theres a special type of xp that creature handler's get when their pets attack?

I remember when DAoC was first released over here, many people didn't realise that you didn't want the help and would gleefully start hitting anything you did.

It's the same in SWG, there's a lot of players who are completely new to mmorpgs and need to learn what's acceptable. Unfortunately, many CHs and Imps with AT-STs are just cnuts when it comes to camps

depends on where you are..

when it concerns force sensitive npc's.. forget you learned any manner and start whacking and whacking and hope you get loot rights.. I hate crystal caves for this matter.. its always crowded to hell with people all for a few mobs in hope for some silly holocrons

everywhere else. i dont think people standard is to 'leech' ..

the guy with the pet will get xp for each one of the creatures or npc's that it hits, even if its only one hit...

I had a similar problem as i was working my way up CH and ranger, i would send in my pets then just /attack. A bounty hunter novice decided to follow me about for an hour leeching all the XP from the mobs with his LLC. I got rid by using /maskscent and /burst running past a wild lair of swarming dewbacks.. just as i was about 65m away i took a pot shot on the lair an kept running, a few seconds later he had about 10 of them chewing at his nice shiny composite

I had a simlar problem to warpig last week the guy kept pulling mobs to my camps and kept following me. He wouldnt go away even after I asked him nicley. When a mountin squill started to hit him I wasnt about to waste any of my stim b's on his sorry arse (dispite his /YELL HEAL!!! macro) he then decided to flame me for the next 20 mins about how much a twat I was.

Fuckin annoying is what it is. Like the dude ^ said, it was the same in daoc but people quickly learned in a matter of what, their first day not to do it [apart from the stupid spanish fuckers who still do it to this day]. Alot of people don't seem to twig that its not the done thing, or innaproriate...

I don't bother helping anyone unless they specificially ask for it. If I think its going pearshaped for them I'll stand next to them so they can see me and ask for help. Too many times in other games I've had it when helping someone who was clearly about to bite it, and been accused of kill stealing and had all manner of obscenities thrown at me.. although if your a healer in this game you can throw a couple of heals if your feeling generous, get the xp and not leech any combat xp from them.

Then i pull tons of mobs onto them and feigndeath if they dont bog off!

I usually hit people with stims even if they dont ask for a heal. No need to fight and steal xp =)

i had some tka leeching my mobs also, pulled 4 with pets , and killed them 1 by 1, while this tka leeches same mobs , placed him on ignore, also he is banned from our PA hall, city etc etc

and will also inform their PA that they can bugger off

and yes, after few mobs, i pulled 8 , and he died
