Who here would refuse an ID card and actually risk criminal proceedings then?

I think I might - though if/when it comes to it I'll probably wuss out.

Almost certainly I would, however I'm aware that not having an ID card may be an issue when travelling by air, and I couldn't afford to miss any work, so that may require some serious thought.

Like the Poll Tax, if enough people kick up a fuss, they'll think again (although the Poll Tax was replaced by Council Tax - hardly an improvement).
