If I was ever going to buy a Nvidia card, Leadtek would be my only choice, thanks to that lovely 2D.

Fancy sharing your reasoning? I may be in the market for a new card soon, any input would be appreciated.

The latest Leadteks feature much cripsper visuals than most nVidia based cards.

But they're still shit compared to ATi or Matrox.

matrox ruled :)
never had an ati at home so I can't really comment.
there's one in the box I have at work, but that's combined with a large tft. I guess that slightly makes a difference ;)

Not really true.Try runnig a Matrox card at a really high res and refresh rate and it can start to have problems. Especially with dual monitors. Or so I heard :)

Technation article on gf4

It says it needs agp x8, yet all the 4600 cards I have seen say agp x4.

the nomad returns

lo guys... I'm not dead or anything, I've just been in hibernation (long story)

but at any length the Gainward TI4600 0wns the leadtek offering totally...

the Gainward card is more highly clockable, the 2d is miles beyond what the leadtek manages and the board has a PAIR of DVI connectors (dual silicon image chips) ooh, plus personal cinema support, firewire and some rather gimicky stereo shutter glasses (they're cool, trust me)

all in all noone can touch the gainward... and in the review appearing on TechNation this week you'll see exactly why ;)

If that were the case none of them would work since there isn't an AGP x8 yet ;)

heh, there is no NEED about it, AGP is a backwards-compatible spec, just like AGP

nVidia developed NV25 to be the first AGP8x card, but there is an issue with the way AGP8x works (for one it uses more than the 1.5v spec of agp4x - therefore the review is factually correct in that NV25 as a GPU is 8x capable but all the manufacturer implementations are AGP4x through minor tweakage...

no biggie ;)

AGP 8x is on GF4 but there isn't a chipset out there that currently supports this although its coming but I doubt its importance.
