Hi all.

I thought I'd try to gather some traceroute logs to see if I can put together some comprehensive stats for GOA to pass on to their ISP.

If you are, or aren't having problems with lag or LDs please can you do the folllowing for me, and post results here and I'll see if I can make any sense out of the data.

I'm a system admin type by day, although networks aren't my speciality we may be able to get somewhere if we work with GOA on this.

Open a command prompt.

When things are working fine, type TRACERT 193.252.123.33 and save the results (from command prompt window, click top left C:\ icon, click edit "select all", edit "copy", then paste into notepad or suchlike)

When you get the dreaded red squares appear on your DAoC info meter (Shift-P I think) that show imminent LD or Lag, switch to command prompt and do the traceroute. Then post the result here, clearly showing WORKING or LD or LAG before the traceroute data.

It would be great to get examples from different countries and different ISP's, working and not working. If you haven't had LD or Lag recently, post a traceroute with "NO PROBLEMS" at the top.

Like this (mask the first couple of hops so you don't give naughty hacking types an idea of your PC's IP address!):

Given enough info, they may be able to work out where the problems are happening, it sure as hell can't hurt to try to help them!

as a suggestion try reading this, ive extracted the information that GOA/Rightnow require and the format they would prefer the information in. Pingplotter seems to be a better tool to use as it samples over time rahter than giving you a one shot trace which isnt that usefull for a dynamic link.

Oh and attach a thumbnail .png to the post, they are so much easier to read and compare than all that unformatted text.

Ill post a load of mine and send em to rightnow once im happy I have a decent set of samples for different times/conditions.

Ah, cheers, sorry mate I never saw your thread. I'll follow your lead in that case.

Can a moderator vape this thread please, to save confusion?

Kinldy refrain from contacting us, or we will be forced to take further action to block your mails.
You are not a direct customer of ours. We cannot take into account any of your mails.

Yeah but it is the same response you would get if you tried to do this to the UK network provider instead of your ISP here as well. Why should they help you when your not a direct customer?

It's not a case of helping anyone. Ultimately they are a business that provides a service. If a fault exists with the service they provide, then they really ought to welcome feedback so they can replace faulty equipment or in some other way fix the issue that's causing a problem.
