Okay; from about 5 days ago everything about DAoC started to become... Odd. Everything before that everything was running fine. My 'zone changing' times were up to par with other machines and my usual loading time was fine.

Recently everything has been playing around. (5 days ago as I said)

Logging into the game takes about 30 seconds (That's literally after pressing enter on my keyboard after putting the pass in, nothing happens for like 15 seconds) - Porting into different zones takes 30~seconds. (very slow).

(to make it clearer: run into a portal and you should port - For me nothing happens for about 30 seconds, then the actual loading screen comes up and it's fine :S - the 'pre-port' is what's bugging me. - Loading into the game takes ALOT longer than it use to)

PC Specc:

1.28GHz AMD
1GB RAM.
Windows XP Professional.
Nvidia GeForce FX5500.
1Mb net speed.

Yes, I've already defragged my computer - and I'm not particularly looking forward to reinstalling DAoC (if I have to)

Any suggestions welcome. (Yes, I know upgrading my processor is one of them. No money)

Hope it was clear enough. Cheers.

EDIT:

If anyone can also tell me how to find out my mobo model without having to touch my baseunit i'd be greatful.

EDIT2:

Going from logging in -> Char selection screen takes ages. And going from Char selection -> In game is even longer.

I assume u got nuff disk space, u didn't changed any memory settings (as for Swap File).
That said could be something related to some broken file, so did u try to let the updater check all files?

Hmm... A full file check might be a good idea. Any others?

I repartioned maybe 3 months ago, but it hasn't made DAoC slower... 75gb of space left on my C: so that's not an issue!

*File scans*

EDIT:

Cheers Cyl.

You can usually get your MB model on the screen as soon as you start up your PC - just write down all the info you see as soon as you switch on - hopefully there will be a Brandname+model number.

As for the loading times - when you run into a portal and it takes 30 seconds to work, can you still run around for those 30 seconds, or does the game freeze (as if its about to load)?

You might want to check to see if theres any memory or CPU intensive applications running when you are playing and shut down accordingly.

Game freezes - The only major app I've got running while playing DAoC is Mcafee stuff o_O Which I've disabled anyway for now =< - I'm using the app Cyl gave - Got everything I need on there ^^

How fast does the load bar move when you are zoning? Does it appear like the zone is loading slowly or is it a pause then a quick load?

Oh and when the zone is loading, does your HD seem to be getting hammered? Is the LED constantly on?

As soon as I hit the loading bar, it goes at normal speed =< - HD seems fine, the LED just flashes once in a while.

I really don't know what's the fix, unless buying a new mobo/processor =<

I suggest making a new partition ~ 2gb and format it to 64kb ntfs cluster size and move your swap file there - guessing youre running catacombs wich takes a good amount of ram and when that happens windows uses some of the swap file, so optimizing the swap file is a good idea :)

Will most probably do that; what about if it doesn't work? - Am getting 100% CPU usage when 'play' - Getting in game is taking a hell of a lot longer now >< (Hmm.. Maybe I shouldn't of added a new UI just now! :D)

Also try running an older variant of DAOC and see if you still have probs - might just be the new version - my laptop has very similar probs but once I knocked off a fair few options it got a bit better and is playable again though Camelot is still mega laggy...

Okay; now this is bugging me alot.

I reset my BIOS (Now am running at 2.09Ghz; which was actually my original speed) and it's still running hella-slow (=<)

Looks like a total game reinstallation is the way to go.
