Laptop upgrades

I got a Compaq laptop

Runs ToA but playing is jerky and like walking through glue

How easy is it to upgrade RAM and graphics card for a laptop ?

(I'm assuming these are the only two things that will do this)

gfx upgrades are usualy impossibel (atleast on most models) ram is on the other hand very simple on some machines but not on all. my laptop used reguar 333mhz ddr'rams and just had to remove 2screws to install it.
some uses speciall laptop made ram's tho wich might be more expensive.
