I'm intrested in the LAN, and am sure that a few of my friends will be 2. I have 2 hubs an 8 and a 12 port, I also have quite a few cables. Hopefully this LAN will go ahead unlike the last one I took intrest in.
"blane"
I am one of the friends blane speaks of. We have a number of friends who are 16/17, does this mean they cannot come even if they do not drink??
Looking forward to the party!
I presume due to the small numbers that there are no prizes up for grabs but it sounds great.

hi
as for the under 18 thing
this mean a bit more work,
as the asylum is a pub.
and you just can't get in m8 it's the law. soz
i will think about this.
do not get you hopes up for this lan
for the under 18's - next time we will see.
still thinking, if there is an area close to the asylum with loads of power ( (power is the big thing) loads of power in the asylum))
that a network cable or 2 could get to
not saying it's impossible but.
this would need loads of network stuff and.............. and ...........
still thinking
we would have to start an under 18 interested thing, STOP stop stopped.
The campus car park is used at the weekend for shoppers. This costs £3.00 for a days parking on the Saturday and is free on the Sunday.
We have arranged that a small section of the car park be coned off for LAN Party Games players. The gamers will pay the car park attendants as normal, but will show their signing sheet and be directed to the reserved parking area. The money for the parking will go to where ever it goes normally.
Standard Disclaimer here also.
2: Cost
We estimate the Deposit Cost will be £5.00 this should cover Breakfast and Insurance.
We estimate at this time the cost to games player at the LAN will be £15.00. This includes the deposit price.
Helpers will also have to pay £5.00
( Helpers - people with Knowledge that we may require at the LAN - £5.00 Helper can NOT play games on the LAN )

hi
lan still on
network
we have 3
baystack 310-24t switches ie 24 ports per switch + 1 10/100 tx and 2 mda ports.
so that's 16 machines per switch: 48/3
and the 10/100 tx port runs full duplex that's 200 mbs
i think the 10 mbs ports can also run full duplex 20 mbs
now using 3 switches gives me another problem
that ...ie. getting all the switches talking at 200 mbs and fitting the servers in at 200 mbs ...fitting mda's will help .... it will be fixed.
So we have a network that at the moment without any mods will run 3 game types at 200 mbs in groups of 24 or less and thus we have a LAN PARTY.
also you better sign up soon as 15,000 students start
in the next 2 weeks and i am sure a few will be up for it.

lan still on - glasgow oct 28th and oct 29th 2000 http://www.glasgowgamers.co.uk
web site has moved location and has been done up, even with a forum type thing.
we have a firm offer of servers from a computer company,
the company currently produces over 100,000 systems annually,
but the other companies that said "you can have a few server for free for a weekend"
in person to me
in fact, face to face
have not contacted me ..(you have until i get back from work on tuesday)
just lets you see that the bigger the org. the more slowly it moves
and you also have more ppl having a say in saying NO .
but you will be the talk of the steamie ,i am not joking .LOL anyway.
if you have pre registered you should get an e-mail from x2 on saturday morning.
ta to everybody who was at the LAN , i think everybody had
an ave. ping to the main servers of about 6ms,on a full q3-ctf game. hope you all had fun.
Thanks also to Blane and Muppet and the others for running the servers and comps when we x1,x2,x3 had crashed out.
