Hi Guys
Hope someone can help me with this tricky one. I have several PC's all hooked up to LAN line. However we cant seem to get more than two PC's connected to a game at any one time. I cant seem to work out where the problem lies. Any ideas??

hmmm, I get LAN Q2 working fine, there shouldn't be a problem with it.
Make sure you have your maxclients option set to more than 2! This can be changed from the console if need be, using the maxclients=xx command.

The only other thing I can recommend is to ensure that all PC's on the LAN are in the same workgroup, there shouldn't be a reason why this makes a difference, but it did for me..... I just think its windows being its usual bastard self!
Also make sure that all PC's are running the same patch of Q2, cos some patches are non-compatible.

A few things...

Can you all see the server? if the maxclients are not set to 2 then i think its an ip problem, make sure your network is setup properly.

all of u

Goto Control Panel/Networks

make sure you all have TCP/IP (ull need windows 98 cd)
click on the TCP/IP for your network card and assign it an IP, Make the subnet mask 255 255 255 0 and ur ips 10 10 10 x where x = the number of your PC. start from 1

and say u have 5 pcs someone goes 10 10 10 1 the next person is 10 10 10 2 etc, until the last perosn is 10 10 10 5.

Start a Server in Q2, and bingo you should all see the server and be able to join. also for a Lan set your rate to 25000 and your cl_maxfps to how high u can get it

.

I know this works cause im running a LAN at the moment as well

to swap files make sure you all have installed, Microsoft File and Printer Sharing.

k cya.

AH HA.

So it's NOT a LAN connected server it's an Inet connected server>????

Odds are your proxy or firewall are configured incorrectly.

read up m8y... :_)

So it IS not a LAN server... you mean you are all connected TO a Lan (i.e 5 machines) with some sort of shit hot T1 link or somit and you cant get more than 2 people connected.

Rite?

Well its definatly a proxy problem. If its a good connection you may be able to use Something like Sygate (www.winfiles.com)

It actually uses gateway options ( not the PC Manufacture) instead of a proxy. Proxys CAN be detected by Server Dll`s as Bots ... But thats another story.

if u got more probs and want some help
